Reviews & Discussion:
As per the above comments, quite simply a breathtaking album.
Tipper produces here a record which does what many attempt but fail to do: true merging of multiple genres into one - the absolute symphonic beauty of 'Dissolve (In)' disrupted by the disgustingly rude drums and deep bass yet still retaining that beauty. The merging of deep, depressing and yet soulful lyrics on 'L.E.D. Down' & 'Dissolve (Out)' with the most evil breakbeats and bowel-moving bass and making it sound better then amazing. A exercise of beauty found in depression and darkness. I wish I had a better vocabulary to describe this album although I'm not sure you could write this album down. Genius.
Severely under-rated.
He has worked with some of the biggest names in progressive/breaks including Desyn Masiello, Rowan Blades, Phil K, Lee Burridge, Cass among others. word on the street is himself & Jono Fernandez are joining already-huge Australian group Infusion as 4th and 5th members for touring in the next coming year, hopefully bringing his generally filthy and choppy breaks on board.
Suprising that there's only 3 comments on 'The Man Like....' though the length you have to scroll to get to these comments should speak for itself.
Sasha's pretty much a legend among progressive and for good reason, his djing talent among the progressive ranks is second to none with long, long transitions, beautiful layering and perfect track selection, and with his move over into the digital-djing realm he's kept the same vibe, with even more unbelievable mixing thanks to the capabilities of ableton live allowing him to remix on the fly. His production is also amazing, and while you could argue how much input his engineers have had on each project, I still tend to believe you can still hear that Sasha sound on each piece of work, and with projects like Involver, where he has remixed every tune, you can clearly notice it in the way the cd flows. Pioneer and master of the game, bring on Airdrawndagger v2 :)
Teebee is about as amazing as a producer, and dj, as you'll find in drum'n'bass, let alone electronic music.
There isn't anyone in dnb that puts as much effort into their tracks or dj sets for that matter, his tracks not only destroy dancefloors but you can also sit back and be amazed at the sheer production value of his tunes, the lowest of the low and the highest of the highs. Just when you think you've heard everything about one of his tunes, you'll discover another underlying melody, another hidden hi hat pattern, another small bass riff. His style is intelligent, techy, deep & dark - but most of all, unique. It's no wonder everyone wants to collaborate with Teebee (Photek, Calyx, Bad Company to name some of the bigger guns) and as for his djing? well, he spent 3hrs practicing at midday at a local gig before playing a 3 1/2hr set later in the night... talk about dedication for putting on a good show... But it's not enough, as he also runs his own label 'Subtitles' while also featuring on some of the biggest labels in dnb from the likes of Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, Photek Productions & the late Certificate 18 to name a few.. Be sure to check out his latest LP 'The Legacy' which is undeniably & indisputably the best album of 2004.

He is mostly well-known for his groundbreaking drum'n'bass tracks such as 'Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu' and being a key player if not the single person responsible for inventing whats dubbed 'Intelligent' d'n'b - but Photek's talents do not stop here.
He applied his talent to house and produced 'Solaris' and while most d'n'b purists shunned it, it only proved Mr. Parkes had a raw ability to make good music in all forms, which leaded him to produce music for a number of films such as 'The Animatrix', 'The Italian Job' and even 'American Wedding'.
Photek's return to d'n'b in recent times has seen him produce a more harder style ('Baltimore', 'Rinser', 'Age Of Empires') then his previous work, which again has caused dislike from many d'n'b headz who want more of his early style of work, but frankly I appreciate both styles and he's kept his same high production value.
Now he's hooked up with another gift to drum'n'bass - Teebee. They are supposedly working on a collaborative album together, and in fact, at the time of writing the first 12" ('Mercury' / 'Fake ID') is being hammered on dubplate by everyone who's anyone. Monster tunage.
Look out for the 'Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu' remix.
