Various - Happiness & Darkness - Further Adventures In Jungle Tekno - 16-Jun-08 08:52 AM
This is a truly fabulous collection of tunes. The title couldnt be more perfect. However, there is one aspect of the comp thats quite annoying--all the tunes are sped up and faded out prematurely to fit more on the disk. That might result in better value for the casual listener, but if you ever wanted to play these tracks out, youd be SOL. Also, if youre familiar with the originals at their original tempos, the sped up versions might just be plain annoying.

Hyper-On Experience* - Deaf In The Family (A Sad Title For An Otherwise Splendid EP) - 17-Dec-07 07:19 AM
This represents the pinnacle of Hyper On Experiences kitchen-sink brilliance. The tracks themselves have so many changes and edits from start to finish that theyre almost impossible to mix. All the DJs played the Foul Play remix of "Lord Of The Null Lines", and its great to be sure, but I prefer the sheer uninhibited insanity of the original version. "Thunder Grip" and "Time Stretch" are gems as well, with the remix of "Imajika" being the only less-than-brilliant moment.

Various - Kemet Presents Original Rude Boy Tunes - 14-Sep-07 03:43 PM
This mix contains an interesting selection of tunes from the late 94-95 era, when ragga rinseout jungle was all the rage and jump-up was only beginning. The sound quality is good, and the tunes are mostly not overplayed hits. However, there are a couple AWFUL trainwrecks on the mix, the likes of which Ive never heard on a commercial cd. While this characteristic makes the mix somewhat memorable, sticklers for tight mixing may not want to shell out.

Jamie Principle - Your Love - 13-Jul-04 03:50 AM
This is indeed a great track. One thing I didnt realize is that it owes greatly to Electras Feels Good. Listen to the basslines of the two tracks. The Electra track is so ahead of its time I thought it was cribbing from Your Love. Not the case...

Dave Gahan - Bottle Living (Promo 1) - 06-Apr-04 11:05 AM
The Tomcraft mix is a very well-crafted shuffly electro/techno/club track, with a ballsy synth line and warbly effects on the vocals that work somehow. It might be too "mainstream" for some people, but for my money it is one of Tomcrafts best works since his electro transformation. The Machine Head remix is decent but not exactly usable in a dancefloor setting.
