Paul McCartney - Hope Of Deliverance (Mixes) - 23-Oct-08 02:13 AM
A great release from Paul McCartney with some special remixes from one half of production - remix duo Brothers In Rhythm. Step forward Mr Steve Anderson who gives us his usual sterling piano rhythms and funky drums. It makes you realise how much work he put into those 90's BIR remixes with his BIR partner Dave Seaman. Not alot of the original song actually materializes but this isn't a bad thing for these remixes, probably the better for them i reckon. A must have if you were ever a BIR fan.
GusGus* - VIP - 21-Sep-08 04:05 AM
A nice soulful jazzy number from GusGus, these remixes offer something for the dancefloor and also for those that just want to chill out at home. Remixes coming from Masters At Work which actually complement the jazzy original rather well with jazzy guitars and a real quality MAW feel. The other remixes are deeper which makes a refreshing change to the MAW version, my pick of the deeper remixes come from Francois Kevorkian. Fire Island and Ron Trent remixes are also pretty cool too, although not the best Fire Island mix i've heard but still not bad.
Sounds Of Blackness - The Pressure Pt. 1 - 21-Sep-08 03:49 AM
A excellent set of CJ Mackintosh remixes of The Pressure that was originally released in 1991. This re-release from 1992, which is quite rare to find on CD, Maxi also featured the (classic club version) with the intro, remixed by Frankie Knuckles with a grand piano performance by Terry Burrus. Ann Nesby with the Sounds Of Blackness sing their hearts out on this release and in my honest opinion probably the finest house / SOB track.
BeBe Winans - Thank You - 18-Sep-08 12:01 AM
Great gospel song by Bebe Winans with strong production by Masters at Work. Various mixes of title track "Thank You" include the 12" Mix & also the Dub version, all the mixes cater for the Deejay with the Beats Mix included too. The Kenlou Horn Mix is a nice addition with the instrumentation coming through more effectively. Albert Cabrera does a cool dub under the rascal name. Also featured on this CD is a bonus track which sounds more contemporary.
Yazz - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime - 26-Aug-08 03:56 AM
Calling 2 U is the track to listen too on this CD, maxi. 3 Roger Sanchez remixes to choose from, sadly track 2 (anthem mix) had a defect on the cd i own! Not sure if all copies were affected though? The anthem dub & instrumental are great when programming a dj set together. Title track is of course a cover of the old corgi's tune which in my opinion isn't as good as the original version.
