Rhianna - Word Love - 17-Oct-09 08:59 AM
A superb set of mixes of title track Word Love by the talented leeds lass Rhianna. The mixes available come from Pound Boys which provide something for the funky house brigade. Although on this cdm it appears to have been edited (shortened.) Jay Denes has come up with in my opinion the best version of this track with a 120bpm soulful house mix firmly in the style of the naked music label. 4 Hero electric mix is quality as you would expect from those guys. Another cdm that is worth owning if you can find a copy for sale!

Terence Trent D'Arby - Vibrator - 16-Oct-09 07:41 AM
This is a fantastic release as it features the track surrender which happens to be a great song with two mixes by US producer/remixer mark kinchen. MK mix sounding very much like masters at work at times with some slick synth stabs and neat drum programming, again sounding like kenny and louie. I assumed this was never available on CD release, but i'm surprised to see it was after all these years. This release was also from 1995. The same year the 12" promo release. It's worth buying for the MK mix alone i reckon for a clean digital copy.

Shy One - Another Man - 31-May-09 09:25 AM
Originally sung by Barbara Mason and released on the legendary West End Records. That was way back in 1983! This remake featuring vocalist Cheryl Lucas, and produced by Tim Lennox was released on the Olympic label in 1994 which had a knack of releasing catchy vocal tracks. Mixes come from Matthew Roberts & these were probably my picks back in 94, although Fire Island did an awesome job on their versions with some slick rhodes style keys & the usual bassline "Farley & Heller" style! Some useful DJ edits are also featured done by Paul Roberts.

Urban Soul - Until We Meet Again - 01-Apr-09 02:46 AM
Penned and Produced by Roland Clark and originally released on US King Street label. Mixes by Hani and Roland Clark are more subtle versions and i don't think do much justice to the song which is very good. The mix that works the best is by Matthias Heilbronn & Mike Delgado under their Deep Zone name. The Deep Zone Urban Club Mix has some great keyboard touches by James Preston who has worked with Roger Sanchez in the past. I love the percussion on this mix too! This CD Maxi-Single appears to have only been released in the netherlands & i don't think it was distributed or released elsewhere on CD format.

Meli'sa Morgan - Still In Love With You - 26-Jan-09 07:41 AM
An absolute classic "Masters At Work" moment with additional keyboards by "Todd Terry" although not credited. A respectable cover of a soul classic originally recorded by "Al Green." All versions included by "MAW" offer something different with the downtempo "Still In Love Mix" which is included on the same titled album by Meli'sa Morgan. Other mixes cater for the club heads with "Meli'sa In The House Mix" probably my favourite version with that lush intro. Additional "MAW" mixes are dubbier variations. E-Smoove keeps the tempo up with his mixes too doing what he did best back in the 90's, although not his greatest remix. Quite rare indeed on CD Single. Possibly only issued in Germany?
