James Pennington Presents Dark Energy - Collided Energy - 29-Jun-09 06:34 AM
Possibly the worst mastered CD coming out of Detroit. Its a waist of money really.Old tunes. But that sound quality, come on,please!! I played it today after a long while.Probably due to ear fatigue .I didnt listen for a while but on my new monitors nothing slips through .It sounds like it clips all the time .I mean ,isnt Detroit world famous for there mastering jobs ? This one can go straight in the bin! Sorry James Tracks are good but master quality is not to your standards.

Donna Summer - Manhattan N.3 - 23-Jun-08 09:33 AM
This is probably the worst piece of vinyl i have ever come across . I would say to the responsible people to go and stand in the corner... . Just like in elementary school when you did something bad .In this particular case the vinyl is unusable in a mix since these fruits already tried mixing it halfway ... they didnt do a great job. Its just like my little nephew of 4 doing his first mix.It starts like this ,suddenly there is some offbeat intro mixed with I feel love (it all sounds so bad ,like one of my old tapes from back in the day) at 3/4 of the track some fruit tries to mix in an other track hmmm why dont you practice when i am not around dude . Anyhow stay well away from this garbage and spend a little more if you want the real deal. I didnt, and hey what can i say i am dutch.

Tuss, The - Rushup Edge - 09-Apr-08 01:11 PM
The Tuss is an electronic music group supposedly consisting of Cornish musicians Brian and Karen Tregaskin, although rumors are circulating that The Tuss is a pseudonym of Aphex Twin or a collaboration featuring him.The usage of a Yamaha GX1, an exceptionally rare and expensive (even at the time of release) analogue synthesizer also seems to suggest that Brian and/or Karen Tregaskin is Aphex Twin, as he is one of the few owners of such a synthesizer in the United Kingdom

Revolutionaries, The - Drum Sound: More Gems From The Channel One Dub Room - 1974 To 1980 - 01-Mar-08 03:13 PM
The sound of Channel One, which achieved worldwide prominence in the mid-seventies reggae boom, wielded an unparalleled influence throughout the world. Its origins were based on Ernest and Jo Jo Hookim’s lifelong love of music and their fascination with the way it was made. They were true visionaries and it is impossible to overstate the influence that the brothers’ custom built studio wielded on the development of Jamaican music. The Channel One drum sound was totally unique and Sly Dunbar, along with engineers Ernest Hookim and Barnabas, would spend days perfecting it. As its fame grew all kinds of people, including Sting and The Clash, came to the studio to try and capture some of the magic that was created down on Maxfield Avenue.
The magical sound became familiar through hundreds of reggae recordings and many of the best tunes were released on the Hookim’s Well Charge and Disco Mix labels and on the Channel One label itself. This is where the material on ‘Drum Sound’ is sourced from: seventeen killer tracks that showcase the very best of Channel One
This is probably the strongest dub album yet to be issued on Pressure Sounds packed full of music that no Sound System was and is complete with out including a King Tubby’s cut to Junior Byles’ timeless ‘Fade Away’ and the iconic ‘Kunta Kinte’. Never before released ‘Kunta Kinte’ could only be heard on a dub plate, notably on Jah Shaka’s legendary Sound System, which still plays Kunta Kinte dubs to this day.

Mazdaratti - Pre-Cog - 23-Feb-08 12:07 AM
This fine piece of music will be one of the tracks ill bring when i am bound to end up on a deserted island Just to look at it will bring joy and memories back I never used to use this in a DJ set, almost like keeping it for myself if you know what i mean to good to share :) How can i describe this incredible 12 inch created by Fred Giannelli and edited by Mark Cage. Both side are actually 5/5 for me Its creepy, its deep, its original and very different When I lost this great piece of music a couple of years ago due to a break in ,this was one of the first tunes to be replaced .I have to admit i still dont really like to share this to much ,funny enough!Maybe i am not the only one who does this cause its for me surprising that this is overlooked for so many years Might it be that all owners have the same urge to keep it for them selfs?Who knows!
