Ghreg On Earth - Sigilweaver - 14-Nov-05 11:47 PM
Every once in a while, you stumble upon music that bowls you over and forces you to reconsider everything you think you know about music. This isn't such a release. It's actually much better! I wouldn't even bother trying to describe in words how nice this release is (even tho it's what I've been doing for a few lines -- go figure!) as I know my words would merely get systematically sliced and diced and boiled in a kettle into a flamboyant elixir of madness (with a nice sugary after-taste! great for dancing.)

Extremely intense and uncompromising, this music fuses fairly noisy and gritty industrial mayhem with some of the most (well, the most, to this date) raw basslines around.

Very conceptual throughout, all tracks flow really well into each other, culminating in the seriousely positively superlatively mindbogglingly powerful Quintessence Unfurls, an absolute freak monster mindstorm of a track (and I'm not even exagerating!) that provides the perfect smooth landing to this epic journey.

Not for the faint of heart!

I give a rating of 15 seriously freaking out dancing goblin robots out of 10! We tried to limit them at the door but couldn't keep them out, they all rushed in when they heard this playing.

Midi Miliz - Non Standards - 18-May-05 02:23 PM
I've been a MidiMiliz fan for years, and I have to say I really liked this album. It's a bit smoother, groovier and lighter (as in, not as dark) than their previous albums and releases, but still plenty thumpin' stompin' music. The tracks are a bit too short for my liking, but I find it very easy to listen thru the whole album several times in a row, which is a fairly rare occurence for me. I was a bit "disappointed" also the first time I listened to this album, but after a few listens it has totally grown on me. 10000 Watts, The Invisible Witness, Nick Jackolson and Supersymmetry are absolutely gorgeous tracks, and the Psychomachine Punked Remix is plenty dark and loud if that's the angle you prefer (I definitely like it!) The rest of the tracks are really nice, a bit less in my vein since I'm not a big fan of electro (they're not electro tracks proper, just slightly influenced), but quite a pleasure to listen to nonetheless.

The album as a whole holds itself really well, and isn't just a random collection of unrelated tracks. I find the production to be totally fine, smooth and very clean. In fact I dare anyone to try and do better ;P

All in all a very good album, if you don't like it at first, give it a few more listens, it's defnitely worth the effort. I don't really care about "styles" too much, I'm much more of a musical person myself, and this album is definitely quite musical to my ears. Not a trace of nosebleed techno or annoying sounds either, really top notch.

I give it a rating of 10 giant air-shoving ground-shaking madness-inducing subwoofers out of a possible 10.

Phi (3) - Phinalizer - 21-Mar-05 10:16 PM
Previous comment says it all. Really top notch production, really musical, and big fat basslines to top it off. Highly effective intense no-compromise stuff. Comes in a really beautiful, if a bit awkward, CD case. I had never heard of this artist (these artists actually, according to the still-beautiful-but-still-weird CD case) previous to hearing this album, but will definitely keep an eye out for them (and also the nicely-named label) in the future. Hard to pick a favorite track, it's all pretty enjoyable, but I have to mention track 1, 2, 4 and 9 as pretty minboggingly good. Also an honorable mention to track 5 "Plz Pass Me Beer & Acid" for the original if a bit daring name.

I give it a note of 11 freaking out dancing goblin robots (out of a maximum of 10.) Highly recommended!
