Super_Collider - It Won't Be Long / Take Me Home - 27-Jul-07 08:34 PM
Imagine Prince or Sly Stone, Twisted in an electro, Warp spasm, Skizoid hell. This just about describes this release from 'Super Collider' At times confusing, Disjointed and messy, But innovative and maverick. For those who want challenging, Mashed up, Leftfield toonage. This is worth a listen.
Kingsley O. - Drum Club Vol. 1 - 27-Jul-07 08:34 PM
Found this for 50 pence in a record shop that is due to close down. Truth be told tho, I would have happily paid the going rate for it. Afro house grooves abound, With pumping percussion and house vibes. Certainly not original, But without question , A vibrant Afro house, Tribal groove, With minimal but effective vocals. Worth a listen, Certainly went down a storm when i played it out.
Culture - Two Sevens Clash - 08-Jul-07 10:31 AM
R.I.P. Joseph Hill the lead vocalist of this most Righteous of Roots Reggae acts. Classic is a word flung around with alarming regularity. However, in at the very least, Roots Reggae terms, There can be no argument about this album. The production and enginering skills of Errol Thompson and Joe Gibbs are made easy with the wonderful songs created by Joseph Hill and co. Rasta Gospel sonics and wicked, Upfull riddims abound in this release. If you love roots reggae, You must purchase, In fact, All music lovers should seek this release out.
De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead - 07-Jul-07 03:31 PM
Many fans, including myself, were on first hearing, disappointed when first confronted with the heavy vibe of this album. I certainly initially wondered where the daisy age, happy vibe had gone. However, 'De la soul is dead' has argubably aged better than their classic debut. The production, flow, lyrical content, Although darker is still full of De la's trademark inventiveness and wit. Chock full of dope samples and slamming beats, 'De la soul is dead' in my humble opnion, Deserves to be considered a classic Hip Hop album. Check it.
Mighty Diamonds, The - Right Time - 06-Jul-07 03:52 PM
This is a classic Roots Reggae album, Superb, Spiritual harmonies, Righteous lyrics and a Top Notch riddim section, makes this an essential purchase. Although the Mighty Diamonds went on to record many other strong albums, They never bettered this. Essential.
