Reviews & Discussion:

What we've got here is an outstanding album !
Basically ambient , comprised with scattered surround sounds and dragging rythms .
The whole atmosphere reminds of 70's experimental , kraut rock masterpieces ,
yet it's only the production that reveals its young age !
My acquaintance with the album began when I visited a record store -
while it was playing , it immediately struck by
attention ! I was so sure it would be a 70's gem that I had skipped ...
but then the truth shook me , I instantly grabbed the 2lp version
and got back home to thoroughly listen through the hi-end headphones ,
MAGIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What else can I say , listen for yourselves :-)))))))))))))))))))))))
Brian Eno - Nerve Net Sep 18, 2009
I consider Brian Eno the most inspiring and innovative
musician in modern music ( the other one is David Bowie ) !!!
This album is an extraordinary case , astoningly intricate ,
deeply dark , it comprises several styles ! It is an organically electronic hybrid that shows both Brian's inspiration in music composition as well as his skills in the studio !!! All in all , Brian used all the early 90's tools , stirred them up and produced a futuristic masterpiece that still sounds as it came out in 2020 !!!
I met Porcupine Tree from a friend of mine back in 1994 !
I was stunned by their music , their work in the studio ,
their proggressive rock sound , which breeds similarities
to Pink Floyd space sound ! All in all , they automatically became
one of my favourite bands , not only of the 90's but , of
all times !!! That was until 1996 album " Signify " , from that
point and further , I considered they took a " commercial "
turn , embrassing massive crouds ! So I decided to stick to
their early Delerioum works !!! That changed with this album ...
That friend of mine informed that the band released A something special ... I admit I was hesitant to buy it , I had listened to it
thoroughly when I realized this is an EXCELLENT album ...
What Porcupine Tree did was that they recorded an album with
the quality of their first releases , well done !!!
Ok , what we've got here is huge !
This album is great , comprising electro-pop ,
house , freestyle and jazzy and funk elements !
Their approach is stylish , with a touch of
avant-garde , especially on " electric hairdo "
and my absolutely favourite " a cellar fool of noise " !!!
I consider this one of the best albums of the decade and
that doesn't seem to fade every time I'm listening to it ...
I believe that says it all , try yourselves ...
Murcof - Cosmos Oct 09, 2008
I was introduced Murcof by a good friend of mine ,
owner of record store and fervid music lover ( I've
always called him " teacher " ) . In the beginning ,
I was listening to the album , not realizing how deep
and vast it is ! After some thorough listens it came
to me as an inner impact , forcing me to listen to it
through my headphones , digging deeper and deeper !
This album is " endless " ! Murcof is one of the most
imporant modern music composers , don't skip him !!!
I'll also mention the production , it is impeccable !!!
Ok , here we have one of the greatest bands of the 90's !!!
Some named them the new Pink Floyd , that is sheer justice !!!
Pink Floyd themselves must be overly proud for their descendants !!! Porcupine Tree sound is mainly progressive rock , with extended
compositions , atmospheric moods , with ambient passages that take
much further than you would have expected !!! Also their job in terms of production and work in the studio is remarkable !!! I'm a great fun of them , I've followed them from the very first beginning and I believe the first period till 1996 album
" Signify " is their greatest by far ( though I would put the 2007 " Fear of the blank planet " album on the top of their long list of releases ) !!!
This ep demonstrates their sound to the extreme , fasten your seat belts , the journey endless...
Ok , here , we've got something of immense importance !!!
Jazzanova take jazz , soul and funk to the future !!!
They literally transform jazzy , downtempo tracks into futuristic anthems , with all the organic dexterity of traditional
soundstyles !!! The remixes are outstanding and in most of the cases far better than the originals ( 4 Hero's " As who we are not as others " is a greatest example ) !!! No words describe better than your own ears , embark on , the music journey is endless !!!
David Byrne and his band were in the greatest shape , Brian Eno contributed to the whole and in the field of production , he really did his utmost , many super guests marched over through the whole album , lyrics are sophisticatedly social-political and the music is so dense , intricate and layered , blending art punk and new wave , innovative electronics and world and ethnic elements . To sum up , that is a very , very unique album !!!
