Not so keen on the title track here. Dont get me wrong - its nicely put together but the overall mood doesnt really float my boat. The other three cuts on this are so good however, I feel it justifies my 5 rating. Arp Surface has a sweet arpeggiated synth pattern over detroit pads and a nicely low-slung bassline. Dixons edit of Oblivion is an awesome electronic deep-house excursion with a really positive feel to it. Pick of the bunch for me is the Maurice Faulton rmx of Vacuum Jackers. Its like detroit techno meets late 70s disco in a perfect match-up. Funky drums followed by a funky-as bassline topped off with the mother of all piano sections (its not fussy or complex - its just right). This records strength is its diversity.

I rate the title track as seriously important. Its deep, deep, deep. All the sounds are beautifully crafted and the sequence is nice and smooth. The percussive elements are really original too - it has a very distinctive beat. Best New Religionrelease thus far in my opinion.

Nice album but the vocal in Year of the Monkey spoils what is otherwise a brilliant record. The CD version has no vocal so why it was added I dont know. Skyshopping, Zeronine and Shining (HH Mix) are the other stand out tunes - lovely EQs throughout.

Refreshing and original take on the deep-tech sound. Alvarados production values are very high and the atmospheres created here are very cinematic and expansive. Luna Dub is my pick of bunch for its dreamy feel and reverbed percussion.

I can only describe Cold Wrapper as the most precise piece of techno Ive heard lately. Its unique (minimal but still full-sounding if you know what I mean) and the way it beefs up half way through is sure to rip nicely through any decent sound system. I dont much care for the middle two tracks but the ambient cut Rotating Water is just beautiful. Nice to hear such high quality across different styles.
