Profile: Hello All!
I haven't updated my profile in 5 years, so I think it is time to make some changes.
I am a 27 year old Detroit Techno head who grew up just outside the worlds greatest musical city. I have been listening to Techno for about 10 years since I first listened to it late night on 89X. I started buying vinyl in 1999, just so I could collect it. I am not into DJing all that much, although I have been known to try and have only a couple of good mixing sessions in all my years of trying.
When I was 18 I joined the Navy and had the opportunity to travel around the world and see what Techno was like in Asia and Australia. I discovered that it was pretty lacking...I guess I needed to go to Europe instead. Anyway, I have shopped at record stores and been clubbing and watched pretty ladies grinding each other on 3 different continents. I consider myself pretty lucky.
NOTHING IS FOR SALE!
Eat. Sleep. Shit. Techno. And other kinds of music like Punk, Hardcore, Heavy Metal, Rap, Hip Hop, and Polka.
(me in Singapore at the Tiger Balm Gardens...notice the 313 list members shirt, that makes me the man!)
If you have something from my want list that you would like to sell to a nice young man like myself for a reasonable (IE: Not outrageous) price, then email me at: mistamuthafuka at yahoo.com

Jared Wilson - Jared Wilson's Drug Related Stories - 31-Oct-07 12:50 AM
So I spend a few years off from buying records, going to clubs, and generally ignoring dance music while I am trying to sober up and find some new employment to support my family. When I finally come back I am fully expecting Trance to still be ruling the roost when it comes to electronic music, but find out I am wrong and learn that Minimal and Dub Techno are getting all the hype. So I bought a Deep Chord set for big money thinking I am catching up and find it to be disappointing and find that it can not hold a candle to the old colored vinyl 12s of theirs I have...
I read on an online retailers website that this Drug Related Stories thing lives up to the hype that has been building for months and months. Wait, what hype? I hadn't read a thing about it until it came out and didn't hear a sound clip until well after it was out. Doesn't matter though. Jared Wilson's latest record is so good it could take on all they hype given to Deep Chord, Gerald Hanson, any echospace [Detroit], Perlon, or M_nus release for the last five years and the next five years. The A side has two Acid (almost) House tracks that make you bounce your head and weave to the beat...And listen closely to the vocal sample. The B side is absolutely horrifyingly good, if those words can actually be used in that order to effectively describe it. Tadd Mullinix and Todd Osborn absolutely abused me and my eardrums so badly I felt the need to call Child Protective Services on them for the effect it may of had on my children's future.
If you see this one pick it up. It really doesn't what the price tag says, because it is worth it.
Woody McBride - Bad Acid No Such Thing - 26-May-07 09:33 PM
Man what a release. Woody McBride really opens up and dumps out all the tools out of his Acid bag of tricks on this one. The "Love Comes In Small Doses" track is really more than just a track though, because it is a 3 in 1. It starts off in an ambient style and becomes a completely seperate Acid Techno and Acid House track. With each ones average time being just over 5 minutes, these tracks are no "small doses". These tracks could feasibly be thrown on to a single release and stand on their own with out any of the other tracks from this double pack. But then again, that would take a lot of the fun out of this release.
All in all, this is probably DBN's most versatile, most famous, and best selling release.
Oh, and by the way this record has had a couple of black vinyl pressings, not just the one in 2005. It shouldn't be that hard to find, so go out and pick one up!
Tim Baker - Star Trooper - 03-Apr-07 11:09 AM
I would have sold this record years ago if it wasn't for one track that keeps me coming back: Lifeless. While the rest of the 2X12 is a complete waste of black plastic, the very last track actually contains synth work that compliments itself and drum work that does not muddy up the overall sound of the track. I would have rated this double pack a 1, but the last song deserves 2 stars all by itself.
I spin Lifeless quite a bit, and have found that it works best in Detroit inspired sets and maybe some Tech-House sets.
Fabrice Lig - Mauler - 15-Feb-07 07:18 AM
Very good record in my opinion. PGM 300 and PGM 400 (Duplex Mix) are the two gems here. Both are very Detroit sounding with the stringed synths, while PGM 400 has a very French/Mr Ouizo sounding bassline. Another great release for both Fabrice and Keynote!
LTJ Bukem - Mixmag Live! Volume 21 - 13-Feb-07 10:07 PM
This would be what I consider to be the best LTJ Bukem continuous mix out there. Too bad MixMag had to screw it up by providing the wrong track listing. Anyway, this mix is better than all the Progression Sessions put together. I have bumped this one for so long the CD is just about worn out.
Also nice to note, that this CD came out in a string of really strong MixMag releases. The Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin mixes are also awsome.
