Various - Pop Mixes 183 - 09-Feb-09 03:18 AM
"Into The Groove" is a good song by Madonna, but this remix is just too long - 10 minutes is much more than enough, the track starts getting repetitive & boring.

Jason Nevins version of "Its Like That" was a great hip-house hit, but this mix by Ed Wood & DJ Scissorhandz is a total disappointment. They just took vocals from various Run-DMC tracks (such as "King of Rock", "Its Tricky", "Walk this way") and put them all over the same beat. The result is a very simple and boring "megamix".

Let’s go to the side B. Here we have a boring mix of the "Legend of a Cowgirl" with totally no progression in music.
The remix of "Where Is Your Love" is also very disappointing and far not as catchy as original song by DJ Bobo.

The only way to "save" the B-side is to turn your bass & treble up and then play it at 45 RPM. Then youll get some real trash dance sound, a sort of a happy hardcore parody -)

Dr. Phil Omanski - Feeling EP - 28-Nov-08 08:06 AM
"Feeling EP" is a Dutch hardcore responce to the UK hardcore track "Its Just A Feeling" by Terrorize.

The melody in "Feeling (Radio Mix)" is simple, but catchy. I think its a nice track.

"BZRK Feelings (Toni Salmonelli Mix)" is the best track on this EP. It mixes powerful piano and background music with strong beat. I think this one is an example of how decent hardcore track should look like - you can enjoy both listening and dancing to the track.

I was disappointed by both tracks on B side. Cause there is no good melody there, just beats and effects. I dont like such music, its too "empty" for me. In the B2 "UK" mix I expected to find some UK style hardcore, but didnt hear any.

Bertocucci Feranzano & Tony Salmonelli - Daddy Snow E.P - 28-Nov-08 03:17 AM
I was surprised when I heard "Daddy Snow (Original Mix)". This track blends hardcore beat with house music sounds. I dont know how this style can be called. Maybe "Hardcore House" ?

"Daddy Snow (Buzzys Raggamix)" features some jungle type breakbeats. The hardcore beat is more fierce here then in first track. Most of all I like the beginning of the track with that "daddy snow" vocal sample and music arrangement over it. I think this is one of the best tracks produced by Mark Vos under Buzz Fuzz alias.

"Higher Love" features some nice piano work, but the track is not as interesting as tracks on A side.

Not much to say about "Class Axion - Take 2". I think they just needed to put something here, so they put this.

Celtic Cross - Hicksville - 06-May-08 04:20 AM
In order to appreciate this album you should listen the CD in a high quality soundsystem. I was amazed how differently it sounded on an old Sony with a pair of big speakers compared to a new Panasonic with a smaller set of speakers.

On a cheap equipment, such as my new Panasonic, the music sounds very boring, compared to other Downtempo projects of Simon Posford such as Mystery Of The Yeti or Shpongle. On a more hi-fi system you will enjoy the acoustic guitar work & the bass (as well as many other instruments such as the violin, oud, flute and various percussion instruments) and you will see that this album is just as great.

Most of the music in this album is done in Downtempo\Dub style, with the exception of the the violin driven techno of Darshanon and a part of Khatmandu featuring some dancefloor beats.

Vocal samples:
- Hicksville - Oh my god, are we EVER in Hicksville - William S. Burroughs
- Jade Garden - I stumbled upon the philosophers stone. I had the veil of illusion pulled out and was confronted by the many levels of energy and many realms of consciousness which were available to man. I opened the pandoras box of multiple realities. Describe how I managed control, I could say psychedelic realms I became tuned in on a network of neurological signals; on a cellular resonance that radiate hundreds of millions of times per second within my body. The last six years, I have taken the voyage out of my mind, into my head, into my cells, over 300 times. Each time I make this voyage, I tried to communicate with fellow voyagers, and to my fellow men. Partly theres a result of our experiences, at the present time, over a million americans, have had the experience of going the underline, into the irri, shifting, halucinogen - Timothy Leary

Acen - Close Your Eyes (Optikonfusion!) (Remix I) / Close Your Eyes (The Sequel) (Remix II) - 09-Jan-08 07:00 AM
Both remixes contain some nice soothing\melodic moments. The one in Remix I is built upon a sample from Here Comes the Sun song by The Beatles and features George Harrison singing and playing acoustic guitar. Dont know where the samples for the one in Remix II come from, but for some reason it reminds me of DJ Shadows Midnight In A Perfect World track.
Its a pity those melodic parts are so short.

As for the Rave, the beats are cool on both sides, but the bass -( The bassline on both remixes is very simple and uncreative. Very disappointing.

The bass in the second half of "Remix II (The Sequel)" is total crap! It nearly ruins a whole song!
