Michael Mayer - Kompakt Köln Präsentiert Michael Mayer Jan 29, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Much of the mixing of the Kompakt crew is so technically precise and sterile that you'd be justified in thinking these guys are simply computers in human skin. This mix however is programmed almost flawlessly, resulting in one of those rare magical journeys. Quite possibly the best in its genre.

It's been 2 years since this album's release, and this is still quite simply the best and most versatile evil jungle album I've ever heard. The ragga samples are put to brilliant use where they appear.
... coming from someone who avoids jungle like the plague.
Whoever gave this a 3/5 needs to clean out their ears. This is one of the best-programmed mixes I have ever heard in this genre. Very German, very Kompakt in the mixing precision, but also every track is strong on its own and was obviously selected for that reason, as they're from a smorgasbord of artists, labels, and styles. As in the best mixes, each track serves a purpose and the mix tells a story. This is almost as compelling as the magical Michael Mayer mix that Kompakt put out a few years ago, although this one sounds like it was actually mixed live. The only nonsensical moment is the random incoherent scratching that appears in one segue -- perhaps Koze wanted everyone to know he was actually mixing??
'Nightrocker' track is sophisticated for the time, and easily holds up to anything coming out today.
