Clark* - Growls Garden - 12-May-09 07:46 AM
Im so sorry for using these words.. but this is just SICK. The first time i heard this... at some point i just started grinning from ear to ear smiling uncontrollably. I am in love.

I liked clark even back with the Chris part attatched, but as the two Throttle EPs and Body Riddle were released i began to fall in love with a sound reborn... Turning Dragon was a wonderful earfull, perhaps a bit of an effort at times, but well worth it.

This? Well this, its gone back to Throttle Furniture as far as just screaming this is SICK!... but its better. Clark goes from strength to strength. Long may it last.

First title track ofcourse stands out. It is brilliant. DO NOT skip any of it. I know some of you are going to be tempted to... you know its going to drop, you want to hear the drop, you know its clark and you know this is going to be gold... but just let it play. And go buy it now. And play it loud. REALLY LOUD.

Prefuse 73 - Extinguished: Outtakes - 12-May-09 07:15 AM
Many people ive come across who like prefuse 73 have not actually listened to this. They really should. You should too.

Dont mistake this for things that werent good enough for the album. These are simply things that did not fit in. When put together all these discards find themselves in their own harmony.

No time for rearviews, Vikings Invade the Mediterranean but dont leave & Whisper in my ear to tell me you hate me, are the most exceptional tracks this release has to offer, despite none of them being over 1:28 long.

Boards Of Canada - The Campfire Headphase - 18-Dec-05 12:54 PM
Lots of lovely warm clicks pops and long drawn sounds, a lot of similarities to autechre from their 1997-1999 era but much warmer and less clean cut.

"Farewell fire" is the best track here for me... almost sounds like BOC became as obsessed with Autechres "Drane" (not Drane 2) as i did, and then reworked the concept into a distinctly original and equally brilliant piece of music.

Take the phone off the hook, turn the other one off, sit back in a comfy chair, do a sound check, brew a pot of Oolong and drift away for an hour and a half.

AIR French Band* - Moon Safari - 16-Dec-05 01:22 PM
I cant see how anyone in their right mind could consider any of Airs works a Master Piece. However, a classic, on account of popularity, it most certainly is.

Perhaps the main strenght of this album is that its not very involving music and pretty hard to be offended by, Moon Safari is just the right kind of music for when youre not really interested in listening to music, but you dont like the idea of silence edging in between the conversations. A kind of social chill out music, a reasonable flow, and if you actually have a listen every now and then you dont feel like youve missed something.

All I need is probably my favourite of the tracks, theres just something very appealing about Beth Hirschs voice there, I Expected to find that same appeal when i bought a CD of hers but, while not a total waste of money, it certainly ended up being one of my more stupid and least informed music purchases.

Beth Hirschs own releases are better than air. Shes got a voice i like and goes down a similar comunal chillout route as air,

RJD2 - Deadringer - 29-Jul-05 09:37 AM
I like that story idea, but i think he just made some amazing music and then gave it a natural order. The music evokes immense happiness, longing, memories, regrets, and just pure joy. As such it can be about anything, and most things. But it seems to be of recollections, reflections and then their reconsilliation.
