CLSM - Heey - 26-Apr-08 06:29 PM
I love this tune. I play it all the time. It's so upfront and intense. CLSM is definitely one of my favorite producers. The melody and kick bass are sick, but in the first breakdown when the synth/guitar/Heey sound kicks in you loose it. Has a great breakbeat bit in the second breakdown too. Nice acid loops through in, but they sit more in the background behind the sick melody and guitar.
I wish this was pressed to vinyl.

Q Project - Nosher (Baron VIP) / Safety Clause (Tango & Ratty Remix) - 26-Apr-08 06:25 PM
"Nosher" is fun simply because of it's hysterically obnoxious bass. a tune you release on a crowd and wind up the bass to knock them on the ground and hate you for the ringing tomorrow. I love the bass and I love the tune, but it does get very boring very fast, so I never stay on it for long. Good just for the quick laugh and then onto the next tune.
"Safety Clause" is kind of boring. Not a lot goes on. It's got some deep bass, but nothing special. Drums aren't anything to write home about and the few samples tossed in are unrecognizeable and uninteresting. No melody and nothing to cary you.
Decent release, but not really worth the cash.
Klute - Glue Sniffer (Hive & Echo Remix) / Oshima - 26-Apr-08 06:20 PM
Klute is always hit or miss for me. He's got some wicked tracks and some really boring ones.
This version of "Glue Sniffer" is decent, but not great. I love the vocal sample and the rinsing bass is good too. But the bleeping melody gets pretty annoying quick. Good tune for those who like their drum and bass boring and nothing but drums and slightly different womping bass.
"Oshima" is decent. Very good production quality with lots of things going on. Fun, electroesque bassline but with good string melody with a hint of the Orient. Much tamer than some of his other work, more of something for a houseparty than a giant venue. Fun, but definitely not a floor-filler.
I hang onto it, but rarely play it.
Chase & Status - Duppy Man / Top Shotta - 26-Apr-08 06:14 PM
I love "Duppy Man"! One of my favorite jungle tunes I own. Capleton is the shit, I love seeing him in the jungle sound. Slow, almost tech-step drums get you swaying and nodding, but not so much for the jump-up crowd. Good tune to wind down for a bit but still keep that solid sound.
"Top Shotta" is a strange track. I think it's considered grime or some form of UK garage or something. Slow, choppy beats with lots of bass and bizarre rapping. Definitely slows the party down, but cvn be fun. If I ever played this out, I wouldn't stay on it too long. Good, but too slow for me.
Adam F - 8Ball / Original Junglesound (TC Remix) - 26-Apr-08 06:09 PM
Not a great release from Breakbeat Kaos. After releasing such monster tunes, I expect a lot from these guys, but this isn't anything special.
"8 Ball" has some nice jazzy string bass, but doesn't do much else for me. The melody is driven by some high-pitch screech sound that kind of gets on my nerves. I'd much rather play London Elektricity's "Strangest Secret In The World" similar, but much better.
I like the remix of "Original Junglesound" better than the original. Good for a typical jungle sound with rinsing bass and MCs who do very little rapping. Not a favorite of mine, but fits into sets with guys like Drumsound and Bassline Smith quite well. I like the piano, wish there was more.
I wouldn't buy it again, but I won't get rid of it.
