Profile: A lifetime fan of music, I started collecting mixes in 1987, which led to a number of dj gigs that continue to this day.

I collect all types of remixes, specializing in remix services, white labels, and limited/promo remixes of all styles of dance, pop, and hip-hop from 1975 on. I am obsessed with hunting down rare remixes of tracks I like. My current collection contains over 16,000 12" records and 7,000 cds and cd singles. 95% of the collection is in mint condition.

I am also an EXPERT on most remix services (Ultimix, Music Factory, DMC, Mixx-It, Rhythm Stick, Metromix, Discotech, etc) so if you have any questions contact me. I have complete or extensive collections of many remix services, particularly the obscure ones. Unfortunately I don't have the time to enter the track listings in discogs for many of these services but maybe someday ... for now go to www.remixservices.com run by a friend of mine.

I DO NOT have any items for sale or trade in my collection but may consider other options:-)

Also I really want this right now:

Groove Robbers, The (2) - How Far Can We Go? - 28-Aug-08 12:43 PM
"How Far Can We Go" is a great overlooked "sample house" record from 1988 similar to "Pump Up The Volume" and "Beat Dis", put out by none-other than the quirky US TVT label! It uses a ragga-infused house beat and incorporates samples from Sparks, Janet Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Star Trek, The Whipsers, Arthur Brown, Madness, Talking Heads, and others weaved around 2 jamaican-style raps and a female singing the chorus. I always enjoy spinning it every few months!

Master Beat - 13-Jul-08 02:15 PM
This was always my favorite rave/techno/alternative remix service from the early 90's. When the highly acclaimed Rhythm Stick service needed a change and a new direction, the producers came up with Master Beat. The track selection was very relevant to the time, and the mixes featured excellent sound quality, tight editing, additional production, and lots of cool samples to keep the mix interesting. Make sure to check out Lords Of Acid "Lust Medley" (great megamix), Electroset "How Does It Feel" (with extra Blue Monday samples), Smart-E's "Sesame's Treet" (two different mixes), J'N'J "The Ballet" (full of Phantom spoken samples), Children's Stories "The Chocolate Factory" (combines both 12" mixes with additional Wonka samples), NRG "He Never Lost His Hardcore" (Halloween theme mixed in!), Annie Lennox "Little Bird" (acapella over 2 Unlimited "Get Ready For This"). Besides the vinyl, all mixes were available on 8 cd's (with bonus tracks). These are worth hunting down!

For similar themed remix services, check out Twitch, Metropolis, Glow, Techno-Pop, M, Art Of Mix: Precision, Hot Tracks: Roadkill, Razormaid: Seismic Sound, and the earlier Ultimix: Rampage issues. Now get listening!

Prince - Ultimate - 30-May-08 02:20 PM
A real half-assed effort, most likely to generate some $$$ for Warner Bros. or fill some contractual obligation. Some hits, some remixes. Nothing "Ultimate" about it. The 2 CD Prince "Hits" set is much more useful. This would have been great if they just released a 2 CD set of of just remixes as there are many they missed (Glam Slam, Alphabet St, I Would Die For You, Paisley Park, Erotic City, Mountains, Housequake, Batdance, America, Girl, Hello, Anotherloverholenyohead, Love Or Money, etc)

Eurythmics - Angel / Sweet Dreams Nightmare Mix - 27-Jul-06 04:59 AM
The Nightmare Mix is still a very cool breakbeat style house mix. It takes a somewhat dark song and makes it even darker by adding eerie modulated church bell sounds, dark keyboard riffs, and a well known spoken Bible sample from Genesis that says "Behold, Here Cometh The Dreamer ... Let Us Slay Him ... And We Shall See What Will Become Of His Dreams". A disturbing remix. There should be more like it!

Steinski & Mass Media - We'll Be Right Back - 16-Jun-06 06:29 AM
Samplemasters Steinski & Mass Media at their very best here. This track takes samples of lots of old commercials and advertisements and weaves them together over a funky hip hop dance beat. Neat thing is that the samples are put together to form new phrases to comical effect like "10% real fruit juice" followed by "you're soaking in it". If you get a chance SEE THE VIDEO (available on a US promo Telegenics VHS tape and who knows where else) as it takes a bunch of old TV clips and matches them up pretty well to the track, including a bit with the late Ronald Reagan promoting a product.
