Modul (3) - Pioneers EP - 13-Dec-08 02:30 AM
Russia’s minimal techno traditionally sounded different from its western european and american counterparts. Modul’s new 12" "Pioneers EP" for the Duesseldorf-based Level Records imprint lacks american minimal’s invincibility and straightforwardness as much as the nerdy, druggy or avantgarde-borne quirkyness many european interpretations of techno show. Modul substitutes these prominent attributes with a baroque synthetical deepness fueled by slick, modern beat skeletons and in doing so makes a welcome addition instead of a counterdraft. Perfecly produced all four tracks will be suitable both for the dancefloor and home listening.
Anders Ilar - Organza EP - 24-Oct-08 02:56 PM
Anders Ilar seems to be one of the most versatile producers on todays electronic scene. His perfect examples of deepest micro-house and techno, atmospheric broken beats and glitchy electronica has already found their deserving place on many excellent labels. Level Records is definitely one of them. "Organza EP" continues Ilars long history of extraordinarily thin, deep and touchy electronica. All four tracks are perfectly produced, has interesting living structure and rich atmospheric background. Fantastic crossings of straight and broken rhythms, colourful mixture of pleasant transforming timbres, sharp percussion fragments and groovy deep basslines - all this makes "Organza EP" a definite must have for all experienced techno and electronica lovers. This record will give a certain delight both on the dancefloor and while listening at home.
Easy Changes - 12-Dec-07 04:58 AM
For me Easy Changes is just a nice evy of beats and bleeps. No soul, no roots, no concept. Maybe the concept seems to be something like Plastikmans or Monolakes minimalistic stuff, but those guys do it with soul - maybe cold and silent, but deep and saturated, rich with concept background. Guys from Easy Changes make a nice sound, which fit some labels. Sure, the production is quite solid and qualitative and maybe this tracks will rock the crowd. All in all, its just a digital stuff, I mean stuff, not music.
