Reviews & Discussion:

I know 'Teleport' is the A-side here which is a great track but how about 'Sugar Rush'?

Well I love Sugar Rush even more.

I rediscovered it after approx 10 years the other day on an album called 'Concept In Dance - Digital Alchemy' (a top oldskool Goa LP by the way!!) which I used to have on cassette tape but lost many years ago.

This is proper trance by any standard, no human vocals , just pure sound.

We start off with a phat kickdrum and then a synth line comes in and you know your in for a treat! - moments later the main tune starts - fantastic catchy highnotes! - probably what a chronic sugar rush really feels like converted into sound : )

Theres something about the way the main tune is filtred and resonates that makes it sound more special - I love it!
Couple that with the stomping kick and super 303 arrangements and your well away!

Warning this tune is catchy and I bet after a few listens youll catch yourself humming it to yourslef? - I did : )

Massive respect to the Man With No Name.

Any real trance lover should own this record for both the A and the B side!

OD404 - 9 Bar May 12, 2009
Cant believe no one has reviewed this track!

Certainly 0D404's best production and thats saying something because theyve done alot of quality tunes.

This dynamic duo certainly put a different slant on there work compared to most of the producers from the time, All their tunes sound phat with excessive use of funky layered percussion loops, punchy kicks and more underground vibes.

This is one of the tunes that really stands out from the hard house scene at the time - Probably becuase its got a vibe all of its own.

A phat punchy kick and excellent percussion is accompanied by a fantastic fluttering acid line. Every 8 bars comes a different 303 sound thats so funky it blows ya socks off.

The remix isnt bad either but for me its all about the original.

I have a vague memory of being on the dance floor at Cheeky Little Monkey, Showbar, Bournemouth dancing next to either Superfast Oz or Dom Sweeten as this tune was dropped - wicked times!

Banco De Gaia - Maya Apr 16, 2009
Got to disagree slightly with the previous reviwer here.

I only discovered this album recently and yes it does sound very 90's... But whats wrong with that? This album has got much more of a real organic deep vibe than alot of the over processed crap thats churned out today.

A great album for chilling to or as background music.

Takes you on a nice mystic journey.

The second track (Mafich Arabi)always get me going and hooks me up to enjoy the rest of the album, A fun Tribal chant with a funky beat.

If you are partial to a bit of ambient, world music, dub or just oldskool then make sure you check this one out.

Am tempted to track down some of their other stuff for a listen and might have to get this on vinyl too.
Lab 4 - Luddite EP Mar 26, 2009
Just snapped this one up off the marketplace on here after loving it for about 10 years!

The track im talking about is 'Machines'

I have a Rumour Records CD called 'Free Party' mixed by Steve Johnson and its on there(amongst quite a few other decent tunes-recommend the CD by the way)

Definetly my favourite Lab 4 Tune and possibly slightly overlooked?

Its more of a technoey vibe but has the Lab 4 signature feel all over it.

I just love the start of this tune, a simple percussion loop skips away on its own and then suddenly a growling 303 acid line grabs you! Its accompanied with an powerfull stomping kick drum, from then on you hooked!

Dark acid trance all the way!

Sorry cant comment on the other tunes untill ive had a listen : )
A fine slab of oldskool tunes.

These tracks remind me of summertime raving - Although not quite old enough to have been to a Fantazia :(

I do however remember listening to the tape packs and watching the all the videos.

My favourites here include the classic Ellis-dee 'Rock to the Max' and Psi'Ebe' - 1 - what a tune that is!, Very original feel good track.
Then theres Ratpacks 'Looking Through My Window' A nice tune! - All of them seem to capture the Fantazia vibe nicely.

A great album for collectors with its full colour gatefold sleeve adorned with Flyers, Photos and newspaper articles.

Any oldskool vinyl collector should have this album!

I tell you what this track is awesome!

Upthere with my favourite hardtrancers of alltime and from the Local Bournemouth Destiny records crew aswell.

If your into your oldskool hard trance then make sure you track this down. Once youve heard it you will wonder why you hadnt noticed it before, Im very suprised that its not highly sort after on here!

Its a fine a mix of the well known Terminator melody accompanied with fun hardhousey and acidy stabs and an aweomse kickdrum to boot! - Theres a definate underground feel to it which I love, its dreamy and full of energy at the same time. On the break youve got the infamous 'machines' vocal and then the terminator melody comes out of knowhere. Wicked!

Reminds me of my old raving days at the Manor and Club Destiny in Bournemouth.

Bet this would go down a storm on any dancefloor!
Alien Trax Nov 12, 2008
This has got to be one of my favourite labels of all time.

The tracks released have just the right mix of banging hard house / NRG and acid trance.

Energetic hard and pumping tripped out tracks.

When I listen to these tunes I get the feel of being at some underground party at 4AM and just loving it!!!

I suppose you could say there is a simular vibe to the Tinrib stuff here except more trancey and listening back I think these stand the test of time better, but thats just my opinion.

Massive respect to the Alien Trax crew for creating a sound that is not only a bit different but bloody good!

The ultimate free party sound!
