Sasha - Invol2ver
Oct 20, 2008
With Invol2ver, Sasha returns to deliver the missing part of electronic music - Global sound. My God, this album is on FIRE!! Slow, only around 115-120bpm. The highlight for me must be the 4-minute build-up of "Home Video" and "Ladytron" feels like acid burns. My only complaint with this mix is the inclusion of Engineers, as last track, which destroys the whole spacey feel of Invol2Ver. So i made a re-edit of this album for myself, that's has the last 7 minutes removed. And now it's perfect.
iiO - Rapture (Armin Van Buuren Remix)
Sep 18, 2008
If i could pick one record to describe armin van buuren's work, this would by far be the one. forget about the the radio edit, there is too much passion in this version it cannot reach it's climax until 6:15... and when it does, it's an epic.
melodic, ever growing soundscapes, soft and harsh simultaneously. i have never been able to listen this mix without shivers. armin's masterpiece, as well as my favourite mix of Rapture. Easily the BEST pop song in last 10 years. So why is this so special? Do you remember that very first time you heard the song? You thought: "What's this?". You love that feeling. It stays with you. "Young Folks" is so easy to remember. It sounds innovative and retro at the same time. It's fun, innocent, different and memorable. I can see myself, mom & dad, 8-year old Billy and even grandma whisteling to this! Honestly, when can you recall something like this happened earlier? I mean, it's just too damn catchy to pass :)
People may not realize it yet, but it is already a classic. "Young Folks" equals "Stand by me" of the 21st century! Thank you P,B,J!!
Hot Tracks
Feb 19, 2008
It's great that back in early 1980s, there were guys working very hard to make remixes of old club tracks using just some scissors and some Scotch tape. But when the mix disappoints (and believe me, Hottracks does), time and time again, it is hard to have respect for the author. Hot Tracks are famous for bad and unconsistent editing, unexpected mixing, and even changes in quality during the mix. Many of their ideas are plain unoriginal. My advice to you is to avoid Hot Tracks, and get the original versions back instead. . mixes, i'd recommend Razormaid re-edits to you any day over these.
Murat Uncuoglu
Nov 12, 2007
Still an obscure artist to me, since i'm not very familiar with his work yet. But i can tell you this, i would rather have an artist release only 1 song in his whole life, and it to brilliant, than have him release numourous average ones. Uncuoglu has accomplished the first! I feel lucky for having discovered Murat Uncuoglu's "Flame" on GU028. There is an unexplainable futuristic peace in that song, and it ranks as one of my all-time favourite electronic music tracks. Thank you for that, Murat!
Dyva - On Fire
Oct 29, 2007
I love the fact that there are people so much in love with classic italodisco sound, they are producing new italo tracks in old fashion. "On Fire" has all that, plus they've even added bad vocals - thats great! On whole "On Fire" is pretty well produced, however the song lacks a real melody, and nomatter how much passion you may have, you can't pull this off. Don't believe the hype, listen to it yourself. I rate it 2/5. I don't get why people are putting this song down. Yes it uses a drum loop from another song - so what? It makes good use of it. The production is excellent, the drums relentless. Original melody, different from what you'd expect from a pop song. "Fairground" is like a journey without a beginning or an ending. Definitely one of Simply Red's musical highlights, but also a landmark in 90s pop music. "Heaven" is one of the strongest trance/progressive trance compilations i have seen in recent years. It's not a mix album. The songs slightly run together but it doesn't bother you at all! Why? Cos all tracks are kick-ass, no fillers! Satoshi, Holden, Andain on one album(!). The package is really cool too! An album you will want to listen over and over! Totally worth buying. "Crackhousewarmingparty" is so crazy! The Rub'n'Tug mix is my favorite, it adds that electro/house/disco flavour and echoed vocals over weird policesirens! Damn, if i'm going nuts listening to it at home then what would happen at the club? Wonderful & scary!
The song is featured on Chris Fortier's "Balance" as last track. | ||||
