Random Factor - Convergence - 29-May-04 08:55 PM
Although initially overshadowed by the Convergence album sampler and the DJ T Remix of After the Tone on the Convergence Remix EP, the more I listen to this record the better it sounds. All 3 mixes of Convergence are really deep, with phat basslines, beautiful pads and tight minimalistic percussion. Play it to your girlfriend and watch her melt with the vocals "Our love will stand the test of time. Your place is here by my side." Back to Me, the remaining track, also overlooked by me until I listened to a Random Factor live set. Dominated by a stomping bassline, and assisted by skating percussion and spacey noises, this track is a real groover.
Zoo Brazil feat. Derek Conyer - Flavour - 17-Mar-04 10:07 PM
Musique Unt Mustiq has been a real surprise package for me. A real crowd pleaser. The background crowd cheering, deep-hollow vocodered robot noises, followed by the count 1..2..3..4 and in drops the phat & dirty bassline which sounds like it's being played through a kazoo. Multiple breakdowns and build-ups with background shouting adds to the party atmosphere. Maybe this is cheating!! .... but it seems to work!!
Heiko Voss - I Think About You - 13-Jan-04 04:18 PM
The Geiger mix has an incredibly powerful and energetic introduction. Distorted bassline, big percussion and a rising tone give the impression this track is going to be huge, when all of a sudden it drops down into a beautiful deep house track with the warm "Think about you" lyric. Great track for creating a change of pace.
Brett Johnson - Me Talk Pretty One Day - 06-Jan-04 07:20 PM
ADD never did it for me, but Temptation & Lies is one of my all time favourites. Super smooth, quirky with great building male vocals. The twisted vocal sample at the beginning of the track is hilarious.
Misc. - In Between - 15-Dec-03 04:02 PM
Hannes Weener & Christopher Bleckmann aka Misc. deliver a sooooperb collection of warm, dubby, atmospheric techno – deep house tracks, some with spoken word vocal snippets. All tracks are unique, emotive, colourful and very musical. “Infectious dubilicious grooves”. FANTASTIC!
