Crash N Burn* - Infect Your Love - 17-Oct-07 09:56 AM
Be Warned! I've just received this vinyl in the post and what a disappointment. I've enjoyed every SUF release up to this point. If I didn't need it to complete my collection I wouldn't be at all moved by this record. The B side is far superior to the A side - even if it's only because the B sides vocals are much more limited. The track in itself is no great shakes though. Neither track is worthy of the Stay Up Forever brand name. I'll not mention the A side again except to say as an amateur bedroom producer who has never managed to finish a track, that if I had come up with the A side on here I'd be embarassed to say it was of my doing. I'd love to know what Aaron and the Geezer were thinking when they came up with it. In my opinion it's absolute rubbish and isn't anywhere near typical of the sound of the London Acid Techno scene. I'm only happy that the subsequent releases by SUF (up to 90 at this point) have been back to their own selves and this release can be brushed aside as a mistake by someone at the top of the SUF management ladder. I hope they have learned from their mistake. I for one will be listening to the release before buying in the future - something I never thought I'd have to do, given the quality of the SUF releases up to this point
Kay D. Smith - Platform EP - 21-Jan-07 11:36 PM
Kay D. Schmidt is no stranger to Form Recordings territory and this EP shows him fit in nicely again. The B-side contains 2 absolutely leathering and typically eerie tracks using haunting strings and twisted vocals. The 2 A-side tracks bring out the big drums for a galloping techno workout. Club support from Sven Vath, DJ Hell, Billy Nasty. Press reviews in Raveline and Groove Magazines
D.A.V.E. The Drummer

Praxis (5) - Lethonomia EP - 24-Jun-06 04:30 AM
Sixth in the arsenal of domestic meddling dark techno, this LP continues where the Omniscient journey last left off. Label head Praxis drops a bit of forward-thinking hard technotic funk reminiscent of big rave techno. With a blissfully dark break, the track explodes into a primetime fury of hypnotic loopy synth techno. D.A.V.E. The Drummer (Hydraulix, APEX, Stay Up Forever, Routemaster) pushes a slightly more refined sound, as a more minimal demise lurks behind pounding percussion and a filtered synth loop. A haunting break adds a bit of suspense as the groove continues to push through. a heavy tool-oriented floor filler.....
