John Doe (4) - God Is A Girl - 23-Sep-08 10:50 PM
I gave this a 3 out of 5 only because slammin hard saves this record from being totally worthless. for instance, the track god is a girl is decent breaks but the vocal sample stating the track title is cheesy and ruins any energy its built up. looking at you is a relaxed little hopper but not going to get the crowd moving too much. slammin hard is where its at with devastating synth sounds and good break patterns so be sure to play it loud! if you want this record for anything its slammin hard for sure.
Knowledge & Wisdom - High Grade - 26-Aug-08 01:28 AM
I know what your thinking, this has to be really good if everyone rated it 5. i bought this album a week ago and have given it some time through play. i found that playing it album style not mixing it, i feel it to be 3.5. if i mix it with slightly similar tracks i feel it to be a solid 4. something different about this album is that there is lyrics over the beats throughout all 4 songs and gets a little bit annoying at points, its not the typical lyric "sample" here and there but actual "rasta rap" over jungle beats. its jump up thats for sure. i wrote my review after i gave it a 3. the reason is that i thought it would be way better and was shocked by what felt in a way commercial pop to me. im not saying it was bad but i didnt really feel like crankin' it to the max and gettin' down.
Cryogenics - R. U. Alien (World Summit) / Good Intentions - 23-Jul-08 10:00 AM
This record is definitely a great mixing tool for any jungle/ dnb dj. both tracks have a dark and mysterious sound to them. they are emphasized by heavy, deep, excellerating, wobbly bass and are accompanied by very tasteful drums, not the boring repetitive stuff. this is high quality production that feels so smooth when you listen to it. the track that stands out most to me is good intentions. it has great b-lines and great drums. i would recommend this record to any dj who wants to beef up their mix with awesome bass and interesting technical drums.
