I currently record music under the names Dorosoto and Forrest. You can find some of my stuff on the U-Cover label, as well as I, Absentee. I'm also currently producing music with Mall Security as RFP(The Red Falcon Projects). Before this, I had recorded a handful of tracks under the name wkinc. And I also used to make music with my friend Carl(21Jumpsuit, Orlando Copping) under the name Alpha Aesar(1999-2001).

Milieu - Echo Spectrum - 21-Jun-09 03:58 PM
I actually just wanted to comment on the song "Bicycle Day". This song is probably one of the best in the Milieu catalog(IMO). A nicely contained but groovy beat is layered upon with the most beautifully melancholy and thought invoking melodies. One that would sit fine alongside early Aphex and BOC songs. High praise indeed, but worthy of the name drops.

Overall, Echo Spectrum is a fantastic companion album to "New Drugs For Nuclear Families Of The Seventies". Overtly melodic and chilled and definitely in the more beat oriented vain of Milieu releases.

Standout tracks for me would be "Bicycle day", "Echo Spectrum", "Pavillion Nights", "Pinwheel Carousels" and "Peak Overlook".

Fans of Aphex Twin(SAW 85-92 era), Plaid, Boards of Canada, etc should check without delay.

Ceephax Acid Crew - Ceerial Port - 23-Feb-08 06:56 PM
Well, it's always nice to hear some more 303 knob twiddling from our man Andy Jenkinson. There is some classic Ceephax acid material on display here. Check out the extremely fat acid electro of Acid Whorl. It's that really dirrrrrty ghetto acid groove, one that sucks you in and spins you around, extremely great stuff. Also, plenty of intricately acid lined 4/4 tunes included on this lp. Quite a step back in the Ceephax timeline, and I for one love it. Long live Ceephax Acid!!!

Boards Of Canada - Hi Scores - 23-Feb-08 06:51 PM
Probably my favorite material by the duo. Very classic PBS wanderings style BOC on display here. The crunchy beats and synths of "Hi Scores" opens this ep perfectly. Beautifully nostalgic in a way only these two have been able to pull off. I'm definitely in debt to them for "Nlogax", a heavenly electro track with funk synth, thick beats and some nicely chopped vocals. I have a hard time believing they didn't build a time machine, go back to 1979 and steal an unreleased album of b-boy hip-hop/electro and mix it with Vangelis outtakes. In a nutshell, that's what this music sounds like to me. Add the stand out track "Everything you do is a balloon", and you have one of the most genre defining albums to emerge in the last decade. One of my top albums of all time.

Aphex Twin - 23-Feb-08 06:44 PM
Ok, rather than comment on every Analord release, I figured I'd just write my overall thoughts here. The opinions on these have been all over the map, and to tell you the truth it's hard to know what to think.

But first, are they good? Hell yes, they're great. Squelchy electro/acid/house grooves spread over 11 slabs of vinyl, which total about 3 hours of RDJ listening pleasure. Is it the best RDJ material yet? Well for me and probably alot of others, no(although it is up there!!). It just depends on which type of James music you prefer. Do you like the ultra tweaked and programmed computer style(RDJ album, Drukqs) or the more laid back analogue style(Analogue Bubblebath, Polygon Window, SAW). If you chose the latter, then the Analord series is definitely for you. Take these tracks for instance: Steppingfilter 101, Phonatacid, Bwoon dub, Boxing day, Klopjob, (all of Analord 4 and 5). Man I could name the rest, but that right there is enough to make an album worthy of your collection. Those tracks are simply the beginning. Yes I will admit some of it isn't the most amazing music I've ever heard, but 99% of the tracks are better than most artists best tracks. So, if you like the earlier analogue RDJ material you should definitely pick these lps up.

Now, if you prefer the more advanced crazy programmed stuff, maybe you won't find as much enjoyment in these records as I have. Perhaps you should wait for the Chosen Lords cd to come out and see if you like what you hear, then pick the rest up based on your favorites.

Finally, I don't really care if people like them or not. I happen to think some of these tracks ARE the best stuff he's done, and I give a HUGE amount of credit to Mr. James for releasing them. Thanks AFX!!!!

Autechre - Cichlisuite - 23-Feb-08 06:39 PM
I feel the need to comment on this outstanding release by Booth/Brown. This is probably (IMO) the pinnacle of the AE sound, mutating from the mid-period(Tri Repetae/Chiastic Slide) to the later more abstract style. This gave a good idea of where they were going next, and was a perfect transition into the sound of the brilliant LP5. Really give it a listen, and you'll noice that the melodies are light but catchy, and the beats will make your mind flip . A perfectly programmed and all around beautiful mini album.
