Hell Featuring Alan Vega - Listen To The Hiss (The Final Mixes By Peter Kruder) - 09-Jun-05 01:26 AM
Two incredibly varied remixes from Kruder. Listen to the Jazz is a more subdued spacey track whilst Listen to the Waltz is the one most Djs will concentrate on. This track is raw as fuck, distorted vocals and electro beats, and can be played in several places in a set. I like to play this close to the beginning of a set to shake people up a bit. It's deceptively danceable and very very dirty. Great vinyls, methinks.
Hell Feat. Billie Ray Martin - Je Regrette Everything - 08-Jun-05 08:19 PM
The Jesper Dahlback remix is a super intense vocal driven dance track, that if speeded up can really fuck a party to it's base. Intense stuff indeed, which is odd becuase most of the sounds are slow but it's that combination of vocal and the oscillating acid melody that do so much damage. When you reach the three quarter mark and the hi hats come in your crowd will be going nuts. Awesome remix!
Mense Reents - Dress Like An Albino - 08-Jun-05 04:35 PM
With this record I stick to the A-side only. Though I love listening to the whole thing, I find that only Dressed Like An Albino really mixes with my kind of music. The Pulsinger mix is the one I really like. It's very Pop-ish but contains some electro/acid influences. Good for mixing earlier on in the evening. What can't be denied is that there are some seriously interesting vocals on this vinyl.
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti - 21-May-05 04:09 PM
Not a bum note on it. Solid rock from the Zeppelin. In Kashmir Led Zeppelin fused rock and esoterica to create one of the most powerful songs in rock history. But it's on the lesser known tracks that Physical Graffitti comes into its own. Down By The Seaside and Custard Pie are absolutely fantastic and sit opposite each other in the miriad of rock sub-genres. Awesome stuff and a serious contender to Led Zep 4 for the best album they've ever released.
System F.* Feat. Marc Almond - Soul On Soul (Remixed) - 14-May-05 10:27 AM
I heard this track at The End in London in 2000/2001 and hit struck a note with me. It was one of those nights and titles escaped my mind. But after a few years a tracked it down and played it to the friend I'd gone to the End with and everything kinda came back. At it's core, this is a very intense, if slightly pretentious track, that if played at the right time can really dent a set and impact a crowd. Normally reserved for the peak of peak time, this track features Almond on a very effecting vocal. Strong techno and, dare I say it, trance influences here. Only pay attention to the gigolo remixes as all else are truly awful.
