What actually happened with the US release of this album, is that some recordbiz people decided that the US is not up for the heavy Jungle side of Miss Rap. So they replaced the original 4 jungle tracks on this album for some poppier tricks. It didn't really help much and after this DJ Rap wisely returned to her hardcore Jungle style both as recording artist and DJ.

Gopher samples Billie Holliday like fellow countrymen Motorbass did on the magical Pansoul album a few years earlier.
The Source Direct mix steals the show though. One of the funkiest jungle tracks ever made with some dazzling beat programming.
A true case of Miss Holliday on acid!

In 1995 Mark Brydon would become the driving & producing force behind Moloko together with singer Roisin Murphy. But as this album proves he was rooted in the acid jazz/ jazzdance wave of the early nineties.

The original european release misses the very cool Barrow & Dillinja remixes (which appeared later on the title track's single version ) & so only has 10 trax, but the same cat # anyway.
The Baby Namboos are some Bristolian relatives of Tricky & the man himself helps them out in production, writing & guestspots on trax 3, 4 & 5.
Indeed some of these trax sound more like early Massive Attack & Tricky circa Maxinquaye then anything the originals did after their cutting edge debuts.
A special bow for vocalist Aurora Borealis (aka Zoe Bedaux). She is to the Namboos what Martine was to Tricky ; a delicate but powerful emotional force...

Essential jazzdance/ hip hop/ trip hop compilation series compiled by Patrick Forge.
This US release is a slimmed down version of the original UK volume 5 (or phive). It has 10 tacks instead of the 16 on that release. If you're into it , go for the original (fourth & broadway BRCD617) 'cause you're missing out on massive attack, ben harper, ufo, d*note, a progdigy remix of method man & paul weller!
