I was only introduced to Jay Dee following his death. I purchased this record and was immediately blown away by his distinctive heavy, raw sound. Alot of the tracks appear quite simple, but that is why they are so effective. The stand out track for me is "Pause", the beats are lethal. Definitely dancefloor based, that much is clear. His tracks can cross the divide from hip hop to that detroit house/techno sound, purveyed by the likes of the three chairs and Carl Craig. Badly missed, RIP

The title track on this EP is class, sampling Roy Ayers track of the same name. It comes in with a slow house jackin feel, slowly building the pace upwards as the distorted vocal "chicago, chicago..." starts to drop. "were can I go" he asks? you can go and shake you booty of course. The pace then drops, and builds back up again. I nightmare to mix if your timings not spot on. Not sure about the others tracks on here, pretty average and thats saying something. But if you like proper good old jacking house music check this.

This EP is all about the track Whispers, the rest are OK - deep house/tek house cuts, but not really my cup of tea. Whispers is just pure class with a very detroit feel to it. A retro analogue bassline drives the track along, but its the oriental sounds and kraftwerk esq synths that do it for me. Sounds terrible I know but it really works. This is the type of track which makes me fall in love with techno all over again. Less bang bang, more soul.
