Stephen Hellm - Space OK EP - 13-Jun-09 05:28 AM
With his first release ever "Space OK EP", Stephen Hellm enters K-Records with a serious statement.
The lead track, Space OK. Combines classic synth parts with a rythmic drive, and bass in your fase kick. Creating an ambiant fit for the highlights of the evening.
Workflow is a peaktime stomper with an uplifting synth and stimulating percussion that will set many dancefloors on fire. Without a doubt a must-play for all those hands-in-the-air-moments.
Where workflow left you on a laser-filled dance floor, Brk-Durch takes you deep below the surface of the earth. It’s a 10 minute trip with a dark and growling melody that gets inside your head, never letting you go. There should be a warning attached to this song, saying: “Caution, only to be used in obscure clubs at times when getting freaky and decadent.”

Stephen Hellm - Taste - 13-Jun-09 04:56 AM
DJ, producer and promoter Stephen Hellm is beginning to make a mark with his fledgling productions on Belgian label K Records. With a fresh palette of unique sounds and a range of styles that cover a spectrum from deep atmospheric tech house to rumbling, peak time floor shakers there is much to admire in his work.
In its original form, Taste is a smooth blend of fuzzy harmonics and reflective chords that put the track somewhere between deep and tech house. The tranquil lushness of the melodies employed are re-enforced by samples of bird twitters that work to give the piece an other-worldliness not often found on club tracks.
A pioneer of house and techno, Robert Babicz remains a tastemaker to this day with productions for Kompakt and his own Systmeatic label setting the standard for others to follow. Here Babicz does the honorable thing and beefs up the sumptuous original; jacking the groove, tweaking out acid and adding a piano line.
