Tipper - Tip Hop - 10-Aug-07 09:50 AM
Just discovered this album... I had checked out Tipper years ago (circa 2000) and liked it but wasn't wholly impressed.... After hearing this album, I have come 180 degrees on Mr. Dave Tipper.

This guy is sick~!

This is probably one of the consistently great albums from begining to end that I've ever heard - DJ Mix or Otherwise, and to top it off, these are all Tipper Tracks - insane!

If all breaks were this dark and funky - I'd have given them more attention before now.

Future Sound Of London, The Present Amorphous Androgynous, The* - Alice In Ultraland - 10-Oct-06 07:47 AM
Best album I've heard in a long long time.

I knew it was going to be good as soon as the first piano chord struck.... but by the time the vocals come in on the 2nd track 'The Witchfinder' you are so engulfed in the psychedelic ambience that the funky chorus almost blind sides you... and it only gets better from there.

This one is going to be in my rotation for a long time. Probably the most brilliant thing Brian Dougans & Garry Cobain have ever done, IMHO.

Soft Pink Truth, The - Do You Want New Wave Or Do You Want The Soft Pink Truth? - 09-Oct-06 06:28 AM
If you love matmos, then this side project of Drew Daniel. This album is his take on seminal classics, and is more of a cover album then a remix album. However, to these ears they come out better than the originals, and surprisingly enough, the album holds together quite well, in a very cohesive manner. Run don't walk to get this minimal electro dub masterpiece.

Cornelius - FM - Fantasma Remixes - 29-Sep-06 02:42 AM
Those familiar with the Original Fantasma album should be in for a treat with this specially crafted remix album. Heavy Hitters such as Coldcut, Money Mark, and the High Llamas lend their expert muscianships to the task of re-interpreting classic Cornelius tracks.

Most of the tracks here have a smooth downtempo feel, more so than any of the originals. The result is an excellent album, that flows one track into the next for a delightful listen. In my opinion, many of the remixes are much better than the originals... at least for my electronic sensibilities.

Various - ColdKrushCuts - 16-Sep-06 03:26 PM
This mix was intended as a Back Cataloge retrospective of the illustrious Ninja Tune label. A great place to jump into Ninja Tune at, since the best of the best tracks are featured here. Both mixes are superb, and the hard cover edition the commenter above is out of print and a rare collector's item. One of my faveorite ninja tune releases by far, and I have most of their original cataloge.
