Soultek - Dreaming Under A Starlit Sky - 31-Jan-08 04:22 PM
Dreaming Under A Starlit Sky blows me away every listen. It has all the qualities I look for in music that inspires me. It's one of those tracks with a simple but effective groove that I can put on and get lost in for ten minutes. I can climb inside of it and walk around and explore for a bit. It instills a feeling that this world isn't such a bad place afterall, when you really take a moment to think about it. All while sounding both happy and sad at the same time (I love when an artist pulls that off). The chosen title compliments it perfectly. More, please.
Aardvarck - Find The Cow - 30-Jan-08 06:14 AM
Mike Kivits, the man behind Aardvarck, is but one of several respected artists on the Amsterdam-based Delsin label. The producer's material largely consists of lush, melodic broken beat with the warmth of Detroit techno firmly in mind. Four 12" releases spread across 2000 and 2001 (Non Spoken, Ludiek, Re Spoken, and Nozum) set the table for 2002's Find the Cow, a 23-track gem of a full-length that vacillates between minute-long interludes and extended mood pieces. Recalling the work of the Black Dog, Sherard Ingram (specifically Urban Tribe's The Collapse of Modern Culture), and Carl Craig (specifically More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art), Find the Cow -- one of the first single-artist LPs released on Delsin -- established Kivits as a techno producer worthy of keeping an eye on.

Various - In Loving Memory 2:4 - 22-Sep-07 06:21 AM
These first two 'In Loving Memory' releases on Styrax are quickly becoming legendary in their own right. The four tracks featured here are all seminal classics of that pure and timeless Detroit sound of the nineties. Being that each of these on their respective release are long out of print, the original copies can be difficult and costly to come by. Now is your chance to obtain all of these on one stunning release, courtesy of one of electronic musics most consistent labels at the moment. These tracks sound as fresh and new as the day they were released years ago.
DJ Harvey - Sarcastic Study Masters - 08-Jun-07 01:45 AM
The original cd was initially issued as 1200 promo-only copies. 1000 were sent to Japan and given free out if you bought something from the Sarcastic store in Tokyo. 100 promo copies were for the Sarcastic US office, and 100 copies made it into the limited edition gatefold piece. The same disc is in all the releases, the gatefold is just a cool package.
The original mix was recorded from two Thoren turntables thru a Bozak mixer (with effects) live, straight to DAT and then was professionally mastered before release. In the mastering, it wasn't EQed, but the sound levels were brought up to make it proper for cd release. We tried to keep it true to what was submitted from the cult leader. The cover artwork was also submitted by Harvey.
