Chris De Luca And Peabird - Deadly Wiz Da Disko - 09-Sep-03 11:46 AM
Fans of Funkstorung will love this record, as Chris de Luca appears to contribute most of the weird beat tweaking that Funkstorung is based on. Michael Fakeschs solo work is good too, but darker and more abstract. Deadly wiz da Disko is more concerned with keeping a dance groove alive than with twisting beats and sounds into oblivion as is often the case with Funkstorung. The great artwork is yet another reason to add this one to your collection.

Kate Mosh - Dynamo - 31-Dec-02 10:53 AM
This is a record by Panacea, and it may be a way for the master of dark breakbeat music to try something different. Hes experimenting with sinewave click n cut tunes as m2 and now as Kate Mosh, hes gone for kind of a distorted, hyperactive gabber thing. I cant say this is among my favorite records by Panacea as a producer- it tends to wear the same rhythms into the ground for me, but fans of gabber or other 4 on the floor techno sub-genres might find something interesting in this dark, abused take on it.

Scanner vs. DJ Spooky - The Quick And The Dead - 05-Dec-02 07:57 PM
At the time this was released, both Scanner and DJ Spooky were past the top of their game, and approaching a change in styles that was less abstract and more predictable. It would be nearly impossible for this release to live up to the promise it would have had if it had been forcast to come out in 1995. By 1999-2000, unfortunately, both Scanner and Spooky seemed to have left their best material behind.

Various - Artificial Intelligence - 05-Dec-02 07:53 PM
What can I say? You can easily point to this as the birth of IDM, cant you? Early tracks from Autechre, Speedy J, Aphex Twin under an alias, and a track from Alex Patterson of the Orb. Not all of this stands the test of time, but the Autechre tracks sound amazingly ahead of their time, and are still nearly unmatched today by the second and third generation of IDM imitators. This is a piece of history.

Pole - R - 16-Aug-02 01:43 PM
More minimal dub from Pole, but this time, older and remixed tracks. Frankly, by R, the Pole sound is getting to be redundant. Its beautiful and warm and uniquiely Pole, but it doesnt seem to be moving in any direction other than a circle. Still, its a lovely album.
