Profile: About time I updated this. So where am I in 2009...still loving electronic music as much as ever, but getting a bit pickier.
Still loving techno, drum & bass, old skool hardcore, electronica and have a new found love for electro. The proper stuff, not electro house.
That wantslist only had 100 items on it a year ago. Can't stop digging out music old and new to listen to for the first time though!
Having a purge of my record collection so keep your eyes on my sales list.

808state* - Invader - 04-Feb-09 08:11 AM
Bellboy, despite its prolific output, has never really seemed to get the plaudits it deserves. The fact that none of the records seem to be wanted by more than 5 people is testament to this. All I can say is that if you choose to ignore this label, then you're missing out on gems such as this.
The original mix is a pretty sub-standard attempt at drum & bass, while Vegas Soul Mix Two is ok but unremarkable. Vegas Soul Mix One on the other hand, is superb. Tough drums, the kind that fill a room on a big system, pound away throughout while a dark atmospherics run through the rest of the track. It always feels like its building and that's what I love about it - you can easily lose yourself in it and for me, that's what the best music lets you do.
Grob LeFrog - 15-Jan-09 06:51 AM
Also known as The Crafty Frenchman, Grob LeFrog exploded into the nation's consciousness with his first release. Sadly, that nation was Guernsey. Some believe that the lack of a follow-up release was due to his inner strife at having engaged in the commercial market, a betrayal of the quasi-socialist inclusion offered through the pioneering sound known as Grobcore; others believe that he finally realised it was time he stopped being a lazy git and actually got a proper job. Whatever the reason, much like a cheap supermarket curry spilt all over the carpet, his mark on the world of electronic music is indelible. Rumours of an electro house-themed comeback in 2009 under the name of Drop LaFunq have so far been unfounded due to his inability to find his computer. That's what happens when you wear shades indoors kids...
Mystic & Fire / Eye On Life - True Luv (Remix) / Pumpin' It Up - 22-Jul-06 09:41 AM
Think hardcore's all noise and no emotion? Then you need to hear this record. The remix of True Love is one of the greatest tracks to come out of this genre - frantic beats offset with meloncholic but beautiful pads, a tinkling piano line and twisted mentasm stabs. Undoubtedly Hectic's finest moment, and why Mystic & Fire didn't have a much greater output I'd love to know. This one would feature in my top 5 hardcore tracks of all time...
Shades Of Rhythm - The Sound Of Eden (Every Time I See Her) - 31-May-06 07:06 PM
While Sound Of Eden is okay, it doesn't particularly stand out for me amongst any other "rave-lite" tunes from that era. The real beast on this EP is Armageddon, a screaming monster of a tune that truly causes your bones to shake. Take the stab from T99's Anasthasia, warp it to make it sound even more horrible, lay some massive breakbeats on top and you've got a tune that still causes people to stop what they're doing and get that "what the hell is THIS?!" look on their faces.
Rozzer's Dog - Serious Mind Fuck - 01-May-06 11:17 PM
The original...well the original's not bad. A classic in its time, but Geezer rips the heart out of the track and starts all over again. It's got that standard Geezer percussion but for some reason has that extra edge to it that his RAW releases don't. Then it gets halfway through and it all gets very mad indeed. The aural equivalent of a nervous breakdown, and maybe one of Guy McAffer's best productions.
