There's something magical about this release. I remember buying this and being excited, as it was the first release by 2 Bad Mice on Moving Shadow since Hold It Down / 4 Bad Remixes. Having not heard any of the tracks before buying it, I was blown away on first listen, but it was not what I was expecting at all. In many ways, this was the prototype platform for the work Sean would go on to do as Deep Blue some years later. There's a lot to enjoy and appreicate here, but as others have said, it seemed to be overlooked and under appreciated at the time - probably due to it being so different to the music that was doing the rounds at the time.

Purchased at the time of its release, an absolutely superb EP, Mass Confusion (Rufige Krew Remix) being a particular favourite, as played by Fabio who knows his tunes!! It doesn't have to be banded around everywhere for it to be good.

On the contrary, I think this an incredible EP although criminally overlooked at the time.

After the mass acclaim that 2 Bad Mice deservedly achieved for the Hold It Down EP, they resisted churning out pale imitations of themselves and instead chose to re-invent the future of hardcore.

The original trax on this EP for me are some of their best - cold and futuristic, pre-dating a lot of the copy cat darkness that was to become a turgid mainstay in later drum and bass. This is how minimal techno should sound

I agree with you though - the surprising let down of the pack is the Rufige Kru remix. By contrast, it's lumpy and ordinary. Sonically it sounds really muffled and out of place next to the originals.

Was anyone else disappointed by this release? Don't get me wrong, it is quite good, with distinctive playford tight drum sequencing and the like, but having a rufige kru remix of a 2bm track was a marriage made in heaven ... on paper. Not one I regularly return to, although mass confusion still sounds alright.
