Everyone in Britain had to try their hand at house music in 1987. Unlike its Chicago-born inspiration, the first wave of UK house wasn't serious, sexy, or "hard". Rather, it was upbeat and fun music for clubs and radio, a little (or a lot) more pop-influenced and brimming with "cute" samples. This song is very much in that style. The original mix isn't bad, but it's really just not a great example of what more serious UK house music producers had in store in the years to come. Now the record is of much greater interest because of the Derrick May remix, which is definitely an improvement in many ways, yet not much different from the original. Overall, though, this is not an essential release by any means, just an interesting slice of dance music history for the house nerds.

For those who don't know, this is the single that Steele and Cox released after the (English) Beat broke up and before they started Fine Young Cannibals with Roland Gift. They really should have stuck with it, as this is a killer single made even better by the Derrick May remix! Oh well...
