The Transference (Dream Catalogue 2016)

Breathtaking innovative at the most recent memory within the soundscapes of both futuristic melancholy and atmosphere via Down-Tempo experiments as a combination of loss and optimism found back through the instrumental synth stunning as heavily altered New Age and beautifully represents spawning an eternal wonder voices like the dream you might wishing for which made, arranged and secretly, shared by HKE and Telepathy project of musical 2814 as might known after listening to Rain Temple as Ambient/VaporWave to Electronic Downtempo for the lonely celebration listening to Eyes of The Temple, Guided By Love, This Body or Inside The Sphere - off either Samhain or Yule or anything for the metropolis modern landscape and the hanging ornaments on your back became the witnesses of those tears before the life-taken by oneself.

My copy turned up today - anyone had any problems with scratches and any other issues in relation to the plastic insleeves? My sleeves are folded in and the vinyl (both A/B and C/D) stick out - outside in the insleeves. Just curious.

Side B ends with an apparently unlisted ambient track that runs for nearly 4 minutes after 'Guided by Love.' This track does not appear on the digital version of the album, as "Guided By Love" segues seamlessly into "Transference"

The pressing plant has had an issue and therefore there will be no black vinyl edition (according to Dream Catalogue).

It's a nice album but pretty disappointed with the overall packaging considering it was almost £30. Paid much less for the debut and it was in much better sleeves and had a nice glossy and heavy gatefold.

The sleeves in this are like plastic bags and the cover is thin and really quite shoddy.

Ok so staying well clear of all the usual (and very irritating) comments from keyboard warriors accusing people they don't know of being 'sharks', 'scalpers' and 'c***s' I'd just like to say a big thanks to HKE, Telepath, Dream Catalogue, Bleep and Warp for producing and delivering another beautiful product, both sonically and visually.. Ok so £26 - £30 is quite steep but then you can pay £15 for a pair of socks these days. My musical DNA includes heavy doses of 90's electronica from Warp/Skam/Rephlex and the like so it's a pleasure to hear some echoes of that vibe in this album. 'This Body' is about the closest things come to the sounds of the now legendary Birth of a New Day. There is a more solid, punchier feel to this new album but still is a meditative and transcendental listen. The final track smoothes off the edges and leaves you with a pleasant taste in your mouth as the incense drifts in and out of view. There are some harsh critics out there, we all know that. Unlike the detractors maybe, my obsession with the Dream Catalogue vision will continue...'Installing dreams into my brain' at a time when insomnia is setting in. And now to enjoy the meteor shower....

Just to bump the fact that there's a black vinyl reissue on the way, so no need to pay stupid prices on here for it. Given that black is generally more reliable in terms of sound quality over coloured/clear, you might do yourself well to wait for it anyway. Screw the scalpers charging £50+ for an hour of music.

REVIEW
The album, of course, is pretty good as you would expect from two of the best vaporwave/vaporambient producers in the game. HOWEVER, the vinyl is pretty mediocre. There are two reasons that this isn't the best record

First of all, the album is cardboard. It's texture is way different from any other record that I own. You can hardly read the side of the record. On the top of my copy, there is small rips. It was like this when it arrived.

Secondly, the sleeves for the records themselves are like record sleeves. Not paper ones like 新しい日の誕生, but plastic sleeves. They are shipped on the side so the record can come out, and it is difficult to put it in any other way. With the first record, the sleeve pops out of the packaging. It looks lame.

I'd probably give this record a 3/5.
