as the album title suggests, this record is bleak AF. I guess I view it differently after 20 years. I prefer "Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward," but this album started it off for me, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

Why are these going for so much nowadays? I remember a year ago they were going for around $20. I say that because these are still available on Constellation rather cheaply. So what's up with this?

I just received my copy in the mail from Constellation and it's red foil on a black cardboard sleeve. Every copy of this record I've seen has been red foil on a plain cardboard sleeve. Anyone know anything about the black ones? New pressing or what?

One of like the most effective album mood wise. It's like a somber yet powerful experience which keeps on giving the more and more I listen to it. The star tracks I would personally say are "13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round The Side of Your Bed." and "For Wanda". This album is a must-listen.

It's hard to describe the effect that this LP had on me. After the first couple of listens it seems to expand exponentially and I always seem to find new moments of devastating depth and melancholy. My main musical interests are in techno and hiphop and this seems to fit perfectly within my musical spectrum. It's not rock and it's not classical exactly either. Some of it sounds like Aphex Twin during his moments of serene beauty and revelation. It's a masterpiece of musical experimentation and shows how far talent can push boundaries and still include great songwriting and catchy tunes.

An amazing album topped by the track; '13 Angels Standing Guard Round The Side Of Your Bed'. In my opinion this track is possibly the most wonderful piece of music ever written. It was fittingly used by Harmony Korine, in his film Mr Lonely (2007) to accompany a group of nuns throwing themselves out of an airplane without parachutes. The nuns elegantly perform mid-air acrobatics, putting their fate in 'Gods' hands, under the guidance of a deluded priest played by Werner Herzog. Sheer beauty and utter sadness. Enough said.

Good type of melancholy with a little sad on it. Great!

Whoa! This caught me of guard! Only very rarely you stumble onto music which nocks your socks off completely unexpectedly! Why haven't I heard this before? This is a deeply dramatic, romantic, and melancholic masterpiece. It's dreamy and kick-ass at the same time. And I'd like to add to that, that the mastering and the pressing of the vinyl is as good as it gets. What an experience!
