Fantastic LA sweet soul from the late 70s. Aalon Butler was aligned with WAR (Luther Rabb played bass on this Lp, and WAR's Far Out Productions logo appears on the label), and the music is very much the same style of laid-back low-rider funk/soul/jazz that WAR made popular later in their career (think "Galaxy" as opposed to "Deliver The Word"). Although there is some tight, funky jazz/soul to finish up the second side, the track "Rock 'N Roll Gangster" is the standout that attracted attention and brought this album back to the fore. Great stuff, very evocative of what WAR and GQ were doing at the time. No trace of disco to be found. A very cool piece of 70s Soul, virtually unknown, and therefore still affordable :) Footnote: Aalon's son, Jason Aalon Butler, is a member of LA's hardcore band Letlive.
