Abakus's first real foray into dubstep, at least a restrained version that shares a lot of similarities with his earlier work. It's a mixed bag for me because personally I prefer the more uplifting and dare I say "happy" sounding Abakus. A lot of the dubsteppy tracks here are a bit angry sounding, which to me sort of clashes with the playful 80's vibe that has been part of Russ's work for so long. Still, there are a few standout tracks on this album that I keep coming back to - We Need Those Papers ends 6 tracks of darker dubstep beats and returns to that fun Abakus sound, The Sleeper Must Awaken sounds like it's straight off the Miami Vice soundtrack, and What Do You Desire ends the album on a very uplifting note. It's not my favorite Abakus release, but I give Russ credit for continuing to expand his sound and I'm looking forward to the next chapter in the discography.
