though this album is kinda missed by the new a&b fans, it's one of the best trance albums of the history of the genre and without doubt their best album. Since the spectacular intro to the outro, Tri-State catches your soul and does all what a trance album needs to do. It has the warm feeling of the old a&b and some of the best tracks of their career. Alone Tonight, Good For Me and Home are the best vocals of Tri-State though I will say that I really love Indonesia too. If you love a&b or the good old trance, this album is all what you need.

Many years have passed and this is still quite possibly my favourite trance album of them all. Every track on this is beautiful and unique.

The album starts out with the beautifully chilled out title track "Tri-State", It really sets the tone of the album and prepares us for what's to come.
"Stealing Time" features the vocals of Richard Bedford, a really nice and laid back vocal track.
"World on Fire" follows and is more bass driven. It is quite a groovy affair with some nice vocal choppings.
"Air for Life", one of the bigger titles on the album, featuring Andy Moor. Similarly to the previous track, it is more bass driven with a thumping uplifting beat that makes you want to get up and dance. One of my personal favourites.
"Can't Sleep", another big title on the album, features the beautiful vocals of Ashley Tomberlin. This one is a lot more chilled than the previous track, and wow is it amazing. The vocals are just stunning, and I can feel the emotion that went into this song. Another highlight of the album.
"Hope" is another more laid back affair. I would compare it to Prelude from their Group Therapy album. Any fans of that tune, will also like this tune. I really love the African sounding vocal choppings in this song, it really takes you on a journey. It makes you want to close your eyes and imagine the sheer beauty of Africa.
"Liquid Love", another track featuring Richard Bedford's vocals. A great vocal track with a nice melody. Another of my personal favourites.
"In the Past" is a short and sweet chillout track. Mostly just filler, but still a nice listen.
"Alone Tonight", one of the more well known tracks, also featuring Richard Bedford. It has a strong uplifting melody that makes you want to dance with the beat.
"Good for Me" is quite a stark contrast to the last song, and is more chilled. It features the heavenly vocals of Zoe Johnston. This song holds the 'moment' of the album for me. When I first heard it, time stood still and I was in sheer awe of the beauty of it. Such a beautiful song.
"For All I Care" is a pretty interesting track. Quite different from the rest, it is more bass driven, and has a somewhat groovy feel to it. The vocals are now permanently embedded in my head, too. 'Hey, you, for all I care!'
"Indonesia" is more melody driven, and takes you on a journey. I find this one to be a grower, personally, and found myself loving it only after several listens.
"Home", the last track featuring the vocals of Hannah Thomas, is a more chilled out affair. A really nice emotional track to close off the album.

All in all, this album is flawless, and any trance fan should check it out. I think this is also a pretty good starting point for anyone looking to check out trance, as all the songs are different from each other. From one moment you go from the club thumping of "Air for Life" to the beautifully emotional "Can't Sleep", and so forth.

My Personal Picks of the album: Air for Life, Can't Sleep, Hope, Liquid Love, Alone Tonight, Good for Me.

This Album is definetly one of the best productions in the trance world. I find this Album very romantic, i remember listening many times to this one when i was in Love, the songs are so touching that it beautified alot the girl wich was in love with. Each track has a lovely way to fill your mind with beautiful moments, love, travels, Summer time, Spring, adventures, all kind of landscapes and all kind of atmospheres. Resuming...this is the most powerful Album of Above & Beyond, i never get tired of listening to this amazing production. One of my top 5 Trance Albums . My favourite musics are: " World of Fire" "I can´t sleep" and "Good for me"...but "I can´t sleep" is my number one. One should get this Album, it will bring tears to your eyes and it will boil emotions within your heart.

The last time I played an entire cd and actually listened to the entire album with this much excitement and appreciation was after hearing Armin Van Buuren's 76. This collection grabs you from the word go and then smoothly takes you along for a bit of a cruise. This is a work of love and I feel so fortunate to have found it, again after being entranced by the single, Alone Tonight.

These musos have an amazing connection and they brilliantly lay it out for us to share, to observe. Substance like this is rare but even more so is an artist's ability to capture his listener. That's what hearing Tristate for the first time felt like to me.

Peace,
Ron

Yes Above and Beyond was voted "Future Favorite" on the 266th A State of Trance (2006-09-14) with track feat. Zoë Johnston - Good For Me (Club Mix), means the album still has it in my opinion. Tri-state is an album that has simply great trance rhythms with lush vocals and trance elements beats in tracks; Air For Life, Can't Sleep, Alone Tonight, Good For Me and home for example. These favorites and others make this certainly a worthy digipak to own, including a slick 12 page booklet about the group. Nice CD
