Plenty of piano inspired house tunes on here, which was a surprise for me considering I only really knew him for Killer and a few more pop-orientated tunes. Not bad for 1989, and some of those hooks have since been lifted, or visa versa (Ratpack, GoSS, Mixmaster's 'Grand Piano' style)! As somebody who got into the scene a little bit later, I can't say it ages that well, but it is an interesting piece of musical history from that year.

I Dream Of You is a great little piano tune.

I'm surprised this has only been rated as 4 stars by most. This LP was the first and still one of the relatively few "dance" albums to really stand out. Not just with the odd good tune but throughout.

I dream of you is a little diamond on this record. Only 2 minutes but the melody line is outstanding. Really a great piano flow. I always say that the mind that created this melody must be a genius. I still enjoy it.
Killer is not the song for Adamski. It is good but not that good and I don't recognioze Adamski in this song at all except for the break. I always wait for the break in that song, that's much more Adamski.
I don't know if killer has anything to do with it but it seems it rocketed Adamski as an artist but (mayby) also brought him down. The song is just to big and has eaten Adamski.
Mayby it was better for him to push out music on different names. Anyway I always get the feel that there was much more possible with Adamski if he didn't release that killer song. But you can't know upfront that it was going to be that big.
But any other stuff is good. Indeed he hasn't hollow out his creative mind but the legacy is here.

This album was a snapshot in time and representative of the movement and culture of the right to party. We can all be proud to have been in and around this time when the government were trying to stop our civil liberties!! For although this now sounds dated, it does not fail to raise a smile when I play this from time to time. The original and rare CD release on MCA does not have the track "killer" tagged on the end.

Can sound horribly dated to the uninitiated now, but when I first heard this back in 1990 amongst other tunes, it was a revelatory experience. If only I had been maybe a few years older than my then 16 years, perhaps I would have been able to attend one of the 'orbital' raves where these tracks were recorded <sigh> but that didn't stop me appreciating the energy and enthusiasm of both Adamski and the crowds you can hear whistling and yelling in the background.

With N-R-G crashing into the UK charts in that same year, bringing the bleeps and beats to the ears of older generations who derided it's cheap and cheerful sound; it became a bit like a beacon to people like myself, representing 'Our' music precisely because older people didn't understand it. With the worldwide hit of 'Killer' later that year (with Seal on vocals), Adamski became one of the first sort of dance 'pop' stars. Unfortunately the follow-up lp to 'LiveAndDirect' was a disappointment and very much over-hyped. Still, this lp stands as testament to what one guy with a sampler, keyboard and computer can do live.

Respect. The Bassline Changed My Life.
