Rarities compilation.
Six tracks previously unreleased while four of them have either popped up on vinyl somewhere or were floated online. There are three covers but the rest are all mine, and they’ve all been professionally remastered.

MORNING SONG
I woke up tumescent on a lovely Spring morning with this song in my head and recorded it right away. Guns added later. 2014.

THE WORLD AROUND US
A song of faith and litter, this would’ve been a single in 2010, but a confusion of other ideas, bad timing and just sheer laziness put paid to that. I don’t think anyone would’ve played it on the radio anyway. (‘Radio’, he says! Showing my age there.)

FAN DANCE OF THE FLEDGLINGS
Don’t you just hate it when young people are having much more fun than you are? Written on a Brittany beach. Bloody kids. 2011.

LOVE IS NOT A GAME
A Glen Campbell cover and B-side to the bonus 7” that came only with the 2009 How To Get To Heaven From Scotland box set. Never released digitally – until now!

YOU’LL BE FINE
A song about coping with Eastenders on your own. 2013.

INTERLUDE (WAITING IN THE CAR)
I found this on my phone and I’ve no idea where or when it came from. I really like whistling though, eh?

MONKEY TALK
Hubert Porter’s old mento classic about the state of the human race, covered by me and Alun Woodward in 2009 or thereabouts. I think I might’ve given the MP3 away a few years ago, but I can’t really remember, so sorry if you’ve already got this but remember it’s been REMASTERED, ha ha ha.

WALL SONG
Written and recorded for the Scottish Book Trust’s 2012 My Favourite Place publication, it’s about the wall outside the Municipal Building in Falkirk, just down from the police station. Good times.

I GOT YOU BABE
Sonny & Cher’s immortal duet, now sung solo by yours truly. Recorded for a short film by Paul Wright called Believe, this was the A-side to that 2009 How To Get To Heaven From Scotland bonus 7” but was never released digitally – until now!

THE LUSTFUL MIME
I used to play this live a lot. It’s heavy dark. 2010.
