I Picked this up because it was a sale item and the sound samples were interesting - and I have to say I'm not disappointed.
Interestingly packaged in a silver plastic-foil outer that demands you cut a label in order to access the disc, and poster, within.
Dashing along with a syncopated beat in the high 140s, with a processed vocal, "Lights In the Horizon" bears a passing resemblance to UR's (Perception) "Mirage" from Interstellar Fugitives, and is none the worse for it.
The Proto 70 mix takes things to half tempo, kinda dubstep style but not, with 130/65bpm electro beat. The Jauzas remix is more akin to the A1 version, but with a lighter touch and Ectomorph style analogue synths and twiddles, while A2 takes the same theme to a gentler lurching 120bpm soundscape with an occasional female vocal.
Alek might be of Spanish extraction and be UK based, if the label is anything to go by, but this is a worthy addition to any Detroit techno-funk collection.
