Atmospheric soundscapes with mellow beats—probably the easiest way to describe Alex Gordon’s debut SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS. “Eternity” sets the stage for the rest of the album to follow—soothing electronics, loping rhythm. “New Love” introduces some calm guitars into the mix, while “Never” inserts a dash of harsher tones and “Stealing Seven” has some odd whirring—nothing that’ll have you ripping off your headphones in pain, mind you. “Ether” enters pure ambience and the title track drifts and pulls like the tides. No need for warnings here: it’s smooth sailing almost all the way through.
