Between 1945 and 1998 Augsburg was a US Army garrison town. Former German Wehrmacht garrisons – nearly undamaged during the Second World War, saw a reuse by the US armed forces after fall of the Third Reich. Since their withdrawal in 1998 very few buildings have survived to this day only.
The footage is taken in abandoned buildings, cellars, apartments, offices and working areas – only
traces are left of the decades long US activities.
After two decades nearly all traces have been removed. Only Patina gives a sense of its history.
Am.Eise plays calm and turbulent Drones – they make the soundtrack of “US Patina”.
The soundtrack comes from the trilogy “Abandoned Activity” (2015) by Am.Eise and served as the spiritual ground for the realisation of the short film. Brezenstudio.com has morphed the footage. That was done by editing the sound visually and even more via sectioning and rhythm.
