AmmonContact continues their brand of spacy dublab-inspired trip-hop with NEW BIRTH. The beats here are laidback and smooth, and the melodies are content to drift on top of them. This isn't an album that you have blaring out of your hoopty; instead, this is a head-nodding album, something you put on when you're just chilling. "It Started As a Remix fo Elvin" carries this mood right into orbit, like a sonic meteor shower, while "A Satellite's Return" picks up the pace... but only by a slight bit. "Omniverses 2" develops a haunting theme, only to drop out halfway and slowly reintroduce the theme. Things only really start cutting loose on "Temple Jam," which sounds exactly the way the title implies: a jam session. A short and sweet album.
