One of my favorite newbeat-albums. Does anyone know which drummachine was used on this album ?

Quintessential New Beat Album. There aren't many (if any) good full length albums in this short-lived genre, Hysteria is certainly a rare find.

This is one of the most incredible LP from the New Beat and Acid era.
1988 was a great year, Amnesia trusted the Belgian Charts. I remember were a child when I heard for the first time "Ibiza".
I were hypnotized by this new sound. Woaw and what to say about when I listened to the album. I were stuck high in the sky.;)
If you're an Acid and New Beat addict you would appreciate Acid Science and Celcius. So find it, buy it, you won't regret it! This album is a pure gemm. ;)

Not Electro, not EBM, not Acid, not House, but a bit of all of those and more: This is one of the first true Techno full length albums with a distinctive European sound. Of course, this has to be called a typical New Beat release, but it only shows how New Beat was an important predecessor for the european sort of Techno, Trance and Hardcore.
All of these styles can be recognized in Amnesia's slightly acidic, dark and powerful synths, which are allowed to shine on this album, also because none of the few vocal samples is ever repeated too often (my favourite vocal: "it's a dream" with strong accent belge on "it's" :). Many vocal samples were not looped, but repeatedly spoken, as evident in the track Acid Science.
The singles Ibiza and It's A Dream are highlights on the album, though the track which brings the extra rush for me is Boys From London. How could they make their synthies sound that melancholy?
