I was not so surprised to see the ambient album released by Rother. I can say that he had ambient-oriented tracks before. Do you remember his introductions? I mean tracks 'Databank/Nuklearer Winter' and 'Protektor'...and some more. They're clear ambient, as I feel it. So I may suppose, that he had some ambient-ideas long ago. And this release made them come true. But I must add that I like 'Magic Dinner' more. If rate 'Magic Dinner' 5, then 'Elixir Of Life' gets 4. It's good, but not perfect. (In copareing with his next work, which was mentioned)...

I was really surprised when I heard this album and seeing it be released under his own name, this album sounds alot like his productions under the alias of PSI Performer.

Ambient electro soundscapes, would be my way of describing the textured sounds of this piece.

Very different from his usual work (i.e. not electro or techno at all), but beautiful nonetheless. Haunting, floating ambience. I was actually quite surprised by how good this is. Not something you'd expect from a beatmaestro like Rother.
