I think the track list written above is not correct.
Please check it again. The A1. Track is Tereza My Love with the green label on the vinyl.

This Bernie Grundman remaster sounds incredibly good. Lightyears ahead of the CDs I've had. Pallas pressing is also very nice. I'm tempted to pick up the 2 LP 45 RPM version, as it is currently 24 pounds on amazon.co.uk.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this repress? How does it compare to previous releases?

It doesn’t sound as good as expected from a Speakers Corner Reissue. Even though played in a nice hifi system, the bass is boomy and the soundstage is narrow.

During my weekend DJ residency at the very first and now defunct incarnation of De Kaaiman club in Antwerp this release was often in my vinyl box, indeed, Exotica, Trip-Hop, Space Age Pop, Easy Listening, Bossa Nova, Electronica, Drum'n'Bass, Library music and various other genres such as High-Tech Soul, Electroclash, Dream Pop and Liquid Funk all melted together in good proportion for an in-crowd in an hard to describe retrospective yet futuristic mood, for a nearly past century of diversity in sound yet conscious of a soon approaching end-of-millenium in which i.e. retro Lounge would actually more than flirt with advanced Electronics, this allowed a selective ecletism, rediscovering past music while being propelled into the most edgy new creations, and each time I stumble back upon this Antonio Carlos Jobim amazing, if not best ever version of Ary Barroso's classic composition 'Brasil', I remember these wild feast in which this cherry track sat as a Latin scorcher which by mid-track would mash-up perfectly to any new exiting Drum'n'Bass or Liquid Funk cakes that came out that week. This obviously isn't a review of this nevertheless beautiful album ;-)

I think there is a more recent reissue that shares the CTI 6002 Cat#. I just bought this new and shrink wraped and I'm sure it isn't from the 70s.

i will let you know that bossa nova is one of a handful of things i'm not an expert in. but, i'm not ignorant either.

i looked into this record after seeing one of his compositions on trent reznor's lost highway (it was a lynch movie) soundtrack. that track [and the soundtrack in general] blew my socks off, so i thought i'd check out some of his recordings. after much research, i decided to grab this one. i will relate to you the factors that led me to this record and why i don't regret it.

antonio carlos jobim is apparently known in north america as being the guy that invented bossa nova. let's not get into whether that's accurate or not, the perception is still widespread; he's dead now, but that's not the point. bossa nova was a style of particularly sensual jazz that hit it big in the early to mid 60s that became associated with bond girls, hugh hefner and marijuana. well, maybe that's a bit overly ridiculous, but if it wasn't true at the time, it might as well be now. stone flower indeed.....i'll even admit reading this the first time as stoned flower (child). that must be chronic he's smoking, he looks about ready to cough his ass off.

but, this record is supposed to be his most sophisticated release. it's the most developed in his back catalogue, his only real attempt at something serious. this was pop music in the 60s, and i don't mean pop in the sense the beatles were pop, i mean pop in the sense that paris hilton is pop; bossa nova was certainly a lot less vacuous than a britney record is today, but you need to get into the right mindset, man, and that's the right mindset. well, maybe britney is a bit much, but mariah carey or celine dion is not.

yet, the record is solid, i'm telling you. it's really light, but it grooves and it's tight. the orchestration is sparse but nice - this is real music; while it's not the only good thing he did (the initial track which captivated me is not on this), apparently not all of his back catalogue is even close to this level of quality. the result is that this is universally acknowledged as the bossa nova record to own, if you choose to own any at all, and i would suggest that you choose to own one......this one.

so, i mean, don't buy this looking for an iron maiden record, even if iron maiden and stone flower share something in common. buy it for the chill out factor, light a reef, and chill out....and bring a romantic interest along with you :)
