I traded a fiver of puff for the 2x 12"'s back in the day, I got a great deal by the look of things.

Perfect. Two of my favourite 12"s from that year mixed up! I'd like to own this. Hahahahahaha.

Remembering this from when it came out, my view On this (haha!) hasn't changed, even if it was even more mindblowing in 93 - The Remix 12"/CD is much, much better and far more intriguing than the original/all AFX 12"/CD. Funny how the Original vinyl is far more expensive than the excellent remix 12"...

73-Yips is a clanging headbanging industrial techno body pulveriser. If I remember correctly, I think there were certain people who could handle hardcore gabber but couldn't handle this back in the day. The drum workout is so intensely powerful and programmed so tightly and intricately, it created a claustrophic panic for the less headstrong.

The u-Ziq mix is the definitive version IMO. Also one of the very first records I bought. The guys at the record store started calling me "Aphex Tim" 'cause that's what I'd always ask if anything new came in.... And it says something that I still consider this one of the peaks in my collection.

This is the song by which I discovered Aphex Twin. I heard it on the radio. I didn't know who it was, but I was going to find the fuck out. So, I waited until the DJ finished the rest of their playlist to list the songs. Counting backwards...Aphex Twin: On. (This was before Soundhound. And the internet.) I probably ran out and bought it the next day. And now that same disc sits here in my collection.

Hahaha. Imagine putting on the A-side, expecting Little Fluffy Clouds: Dance Mk 2, but getting On (D-Scape Mix) instead. Dear lord.

These track all DO something. The treble frequencies create sensations. These EPs should be listed to at volume to achieve maximum effects. My children love this music too.

The gatefold center spread artwork sort of resembles a Francis Bacon triptych. The EP itself, I bought it back at the time of release, still I am unimpressed by it. On is nice, but check out the awesome Reload and Paradinas mixes, those are the definite versions. 73-Yips and Xepha sounds like left overs from his earlier hardcore days, D-Scape could maybe pass as an outtake for SAWII (minus the kickdrum). He went on to do far more interesting stuff a couple of years later.

Why is this so expensive? Don't get me wrong, I love the music... but the prices have gotten outrageous.
