If you're one of those reliquaries for history and a sucker for drum snares and a bit obsessed with a certain period of the past this work will fulfill your expectations.
It is the best martial industrial work in a long, long time and the best in my opinion from 2007.
Not that centered on marches and speeches or self absorbed by a onesided approach to the historical issue it does contemplates as most bands in this genre are, it's very original narrative and contemplation of the events that follow described by their musical script makes it quite singular effort.
Their method is enterely atmospheric and cinematic and aside from very descriptive it is very easy to follow. The images and the historic sequences vividly appears in your mind. Fortunately it never fails into the cliché or the obvious nor appeals to cheap melancholic undertones so common in other bands describing similar events and themes.
This work describes the events that follow the series of effects taken after the "totalen krieg" decision and the consequences for a nation and its people (which off course makes it more relevant for the german nation than Europa as a whole). This work off course its not an idolization of war nor a deification of a ideology, on the contrary it is rather realistic and descriptiptive without any form of apology on tyrants or victims, its a portrait of war out of poetization.
Death and pain, destruction and ruins, exhaustion and deprivation of life in pursuit of vain and delirious goals, nothing more, nothing less.
Excellent. And hard to do in a reign where many others have succumbed into the cliché and the common ground. Salut!
