Just a little explanation of the title for non-British readers out there: Wildlife On One was the BBC's flagship nature documentary for over 30 years, running from the '70s through to 2005 and narrated by the legendary David Attenbrough. It was called "On One" because it was broadcast on the BBC One channel. However, there's a double layer of innuendo to the title, as being "on one" was slang in the acid house era for having taken a pill - loved up ravers would ask their saucer-eyed new best mates, "Are you on one?" Therefore the album title can also be read as "Wildlife on E" - a fitting description for Art Of Trance's earthy acid trance where 303 squelches melded with cricket chatter and bird calls.

This is the first full album from Art of Trance and it is a cracker. The production is dense yet crisp, the sounds are deeply impressive, and the tracks are all excellent.

The overall sound reflects the darker, harder edge of the earlier Platipus releases. The album nicely blends wild trance with ambient - there are a lot of ambient soundscapes to be found within those funky tracks. Stand out tracks? All of them really, although the superfunky Mosquito is something of a personal fave :)
