Notes

Sometime in the late 1940's a prominent Hollywood studio pianist employed Art Tatum to play for just him in his well-equipped studio-den. Tatum was picked up from his gig, escorted to a magnificent Steinway, provided with a bottomless bottle of scotch and his host retired to the console of his "latest thing" 30-inches-per-second Ampex.

The performance, obviously no the disciplined product of a cold studio recording session, is relaxed and warm, a marvelous glimpse of Art Tatum, master jazz pianist, just playing a few tunes he liked--a Jazz Chronicle.
