On The Art of Prophecy, As One moves further away from the Detroit sound and starts picking up the funk torch. Sure, the long-drawn synth chords are there, but so is (in small amounts) a wicka-wicka guitar. "Splendor Solis" has some lovely chords laid out over a light breakbeat, and "Freefall" unfurls itself slowly, like a lazy flag. The short-lived Shield Records didn't put out much, but what it did put out was amazing.
